Hotel Guest Reviews of the Travelodge Oshawa Whitby

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The pool was salt water.
We were booked in a handy cap room by mistake and were told the only other rooms available were smoking rooms, which was not acceptable (and frankly I didn't know still existed). I found the staff lacked the customer service skills to appropriately deal

Smell of smoke in the smoking rooms and in the hallway which contains smoking rooms. Lack of customer service in accommodating nonsmoking hotel guests

Arrived at the hotel and was given a smoking room and told there were no other rooms available. I went into the room and automatically found it difficult to breathe due to the smell of smoke. Told front desk. They said nothing they could to accommodate me because all rooms were taken. Also informed me that I was in the smoking corridor of the hotel so the smell would only get worse as the day and night progresses. I had to leave and find another hotel. ...read more

They had a nice area to have breakfast and room was clean.
When we arrived we had been booked in a smoking room. I have used Priceline many times and have never had this problem. I do not recall anywhere on the request that even offered a smoking room. We had to pay an additional fee to get a non smoking room.

Although a breakfast was included it was not very good. Also, the hotel advertises a pool but it was closed for maintenance.

The breakfast was great.
I was told I would have to pay a $5 fee to stay in a non-smoking room. The desk clerk said I got a really good price using a third party booking system and that, since I got a good rate, he would require a $5 fee to ensure that I had a non-smoking room.

The hotel was great but I thought the $5 fee to get a non-smoking room was wrong. The pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance so I didn't get the plus of a pool for the kids and still had to pay an extra $5 for a non-smoking room. It should cost less for non-smoking! The floor/breakfast staff were great....I gave the staff rating a low score because of the gentleman behind the desk that charged me $5. ...read more

that it was halfway between me and my man!
We were stuck in a smoking room with no option to switch, and received the most insincere apology from staff. The curtains didn't cover our door, and we were on the ground floor facing the parking lot...we may have put on a show for other guests!

The breakfast is great, you're getting your money's worth if you make the most of it. Also the free internet is an absolutely plus when comparing to other similar hotels in the area. I always stay here when I need to be in the Durham region. Best deal!
The bathroom could have been a little cleaner during our last visit but it wasn't a real issue.

My family and I have stayed at the Tavelodge Oshawa - Whitby on a few occassions when we need to visit the Durham Region. I don't stay anywhere else now. The breakfast is amazing and sets you up just right for the rest of your day. The rooms are modern and clean and make the stay very comfortable. The free internet is simply great because it's truly a necessity nowadays. For the price you pay I don't think you'll get a better deal in the area. ...read more
