Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Sofia Hotel Downtown
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.January 4, 2013
The location was good and central to the Gaslamp, Litte Italy, and the Harbor. The rooms were WAY too small and the restaurant did not offer room service or breakfast during the week.

We enjoyed our stay at The Sofia. We found it very convenient to the main landmarks in downtown San Diego; much in walkiing distance. The front desk staff and valets were very knowledgable and helpful. Rooms were small, but for a boutique hotel located in a historic building, it was expected. However, the rooms were clean and met our needs.

A nicely decoorated boutique hotel. They take pets and a dog barked and whined in room next to us for over 5 hours till 1:30 AM. Parking is $30 a night. It's in a bad part of downtown near jail and homeless area so if you want to park on the street - beware. The manager was good and reduced our rate due to the dog issue. Thank you. Would be much better without the pets and reasonalbe parking. ...

The Sofia is an overall thrill to stay at. It only took about 5 minutes to check in with a pre-paid room reservation. Pros: Close to downtown SD and the Gaslamp District. Hotel itself is immaculate. Cons: Expensive (Parking alone was $30 a night). Downtown SD transients can be bothersome.

Need to update the elevator is so old, tiny and scary.

Not up to expectations. Location good if you can get it cheap enough.
