The perfect day trip, the Valley of Fire State Park is only 55 miles from Las Vegas. Red sandstone gives the park its name which was dedicated as an official state park in 1935. The barren desert of the Mojave serves as the backdrop to an ecosystem home to roadrunners, lizards, coyotes and antelope. The park is open year-round and has shaded areas for picnicking, campsites, hiking trails and group areas for events.

An entrance fee is charged to enter the park, with additional fee for camping.
