Things To Do Guest Reviews for Royal British Columbia Museum
Dec 29, 2010
I've not been there for years but it was fabulous then and can only be better. Displays are large scale and VERY realistic. Last I was there there was a mining operation, seashore, and a native long house where you can sit and watch a dramatic show in dimmed light, also there's an extensive collection of native art, carvings and other treasures, There are life size animals in realistic habitat. The bow of an old sailing ship is 'moored' along a dock complete with store fronts, a movie theater in which you can catch a silent flick, and a quaint Victorian village with store and building fronts through the windows of which you could see goods used and offered for sale in the day or set up as living quarters. Full use is made of scents, sounds and even breezes. This is a spectacular and massive museum. You know you are somewhere special as you enter see the waterfalls, and much larger than life sized carved canoe with wind blown native whalers aboard Plan to spend as much time as you can checking out this remarkable show place. It's incredible. In my opinion there is no better place in Victoria for entertainment value.
