Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Tophams Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Very small room and steps down to bathroom

At checkout we were told there were no extra charges as we expected. On arriving home we saw an additional $45 billed to our Visa which we are now disputing.

The room layout was nice - desk and mini-bar on a second level as well as the bathroom. If you have limited mobility, it might present a challenge.
The first morning, there was water dripping from the ceiling corner where it meets the wall when the shower in the room above me was being used. Didn't happen again over the next two days (could have been user error).

The location is great - right around the corner from the Victoria Station (train, bus, and Underground station). The neighborhood is very nice and it is in close proximity to major attractions. With a little work and TLC, this hotel could be really nice.

Unfriendly staff, not worth price, felt unwanted during stay.

My wife and I booked this hotel during our final night in the UK as a treat to ourselves before a long flight home. However, from the minute we arrived, we felt unwanted and unwelcome. My reservation was for a king bed, but the room we were given was not a king. When I returned to the front desk, instead of trying to understand or apologize, they said "If you're not happy with the room, I can give you another room." Which they did. The new room did have a king bed, but I had to call down to the front desk for bathroom soaps/shampoos, etc, and they seemed bothered by the request. The TV in the room did not work, and even if it had, it was mounted to a wall didn't face a part of the room or bed that you could watch from. The room was stuffy, so we slept with the windows open...and there was a generator or something similar outside that ran all night long and sounded like a truck idling. In the morning, we went downstairs to have our continental breakfast, and were immediately accosted by hotel staff, demanding our room number and verifying it against a list. We couldn't leave this hotel fast enough. more

They were very accommodating about moving me to a better room when I asked.
Miserable room conditions.

They had evidently overbooked, and had to put me in Belgravia Mews down the street. I got a cramped basement room with cheap fixtures that smelt like mildew. Many things didn't work, and the shower door was missing. The room wasn't made up when I arrived. They moved me to a better room (on an upper floor in Belgravia Mews) when I insisted the next day, but this should never have happened, and I never did get the four-star hotel I expected. Reading online, booking this hotel is apparently a crap shoot as to whether you'll get a nice room in Tophams Belgravia, or a moldy basement dungeon. Other travelers have been similarly burned. more

Great location, clean, and perfectly acceptable.
The hotel staff, while very nice, seemed overwhelmed and not well trained.

The Topham's Belgravia is situated in the heart of lovely Belgravia and easy walking distance to Chelsea, Knights bridge, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly, St. James Park. Lots of nice shops and restaurants were nearby. The hotel is the perfect place to stay for an easy in and out of London. The rooms are very small, but are clean and perfectly acceptable. The staff is very sweet, but not well trained. They lost important work documents of mine and had little or no follow up unless constantly pressed. They really need a couple of professional concierge types at the front desk. more

Nice room, lots of tea and
comfy bed. Cool tub and shower. Right near Victoria Station.
They didn't always replace the tea. The fire alarm went off one night. they didn't come through with a wake up call.

Nice hotel. Would stay there again. GREAT location right near Victoria Station.

Beautifully renovated hotel, located right near the Victoria underground station. The place was upscale, but down to earth, the staff was very nice!
The breakfast was good, but could have been better.

Just a great place to stay, centrally located, the hotel is recently renovated, the rooms are very clean, the lobby is very nice with a bar and breakfast room. Just a very nice experience overall!
