Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Thayer Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The hotel has a great atmosphere for a visit to West Point.
Cars must be valet parked. When arriving back at the hotel at 11 on a Friday night after taking our cadet back to barracks, there were no valets so we had to walk up a big hill back to the hotel.

Plaques on the walls and in the rooms of inspirational military figures giving background of each person and including photos.
There was no grab bars at the shower/bathtub and no bath mats.

Beautiful historic old hotel, totally updated and bustling with activity. There were 6 weddings going on there the weekend we stayed. However they were privately held in the lower levels of the hotel, not in the public areas. Excellent Friday night seafood buffet. We all enjoyed General Patton's bar for a nightcap after dinner.

Breakfast was excellent and the surroundings and the location are gorgeous!
Staff not outgoing, except for waiter; could smell cigarette smoke in room, towels were too small

The type of room and the amenities offered do not justify the price. The room was poorly furnished, mattress very old, could feel the springs. Although the hotel is a non-smoking facility, we could definitely smell smoke in the room. Bathtowels were old and way too small. The best thing was the view and the breakfast at this hotel.
