Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Rex Hotel Jazz & Blues Bar

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The room was fantastic as well as the location. It was perfect for what I needed.
The only thing is there is no parking, and the closet ramp isn't open till 10am on Saturday and Sundays which can be inconvenient.

The room was perfect for two people and had a sink and mirror in the room for you to use. The shared bathroom was perfectly clean. The staff was very welcoming and made the stay enjoyable. Definitely a great place to stay!

The location of the hotel and the staff at this hotel are outstanding. It is close to downtown and very close to the metro system as well
There are no public area's.

For the price you pay this is a nice hotel. It is centrally located near everything in downtown. The metro and all downtown attractions are walkable. You can also take the metro to the airport for a small fee. The staff was helpful and friendly and gave me good information. The only negative would be that the room was small and there was no public areas. Additionally the free breakfast is just toast and coffee and the TV in the room is about 12" in size. But with all this being said this hotel was worth the price I paid for it, and they do have wifi that worked well. ...read more

The staff was so helpful, the scene was just awesome, Blues / Jazz bar right in the heart of Toronto's cultural district. Just an awesome experience. Wish I could have stayed longer!
If you mind a small room (really who cares about a room size when you want to explore a city?) then you might not like Rex's. We had a shared bathroom, but I believe they have rooms with their own bathrooms if that's something you need. Otherwise, great!

The location of the hotel was good. Downtown location, close to many attractions. The staff was friendly.
No shampoo or conditionner in the bathroom. Those are the things that as a traveller you expect as a minimum. The room was cleaned late afternoon on the second day. There were stains on the walls, holes in the ceiling and bad patch work on the walls.

Generally speaking if you are looking for a frugal place to stay then this would fit into that category. The room was a small standard room with a bathroom however the floor of the shower was stained and no toiletries other than a small bar of cheap soap. Towels were clean and refreshed daily and the staff offered more if needed. The hotel is above a jazz club however the rooms are very quiet. There is no perk of being a hotel guest when it comes to cover charge at the bar; everyone pays! The hotel is in close proximity to many of Toronto's main attractions. It is located near the fashion district as well as Chinatown. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. There is no parking at the hotel but there is a public parking lot a block down the street on St-Patrick Street however be warned that on weekends the cashier doesn't start before 10am so your car is locked in until that time. If you plan on using your car to get anywhere early in the morning then do not park there (Vinci parking). The hotel offers free coffee/tea and toast in the morning at the bar starting at 8am. No ice dispenser or fridge available. Overall if you are looking for a somewhat inexpensive place to stay with the mare minimums then the Rex isn't that bad but if you have high standards, this place isn't for you! ...read more

The location was great and although on a busy street with a bar on the ground floor, we found it fairly quiet.

The room was fairly basic, but it was clean, had a comfortable bed and en suite with shower.

Excellent location to the Entertainment District
A bigger bed would have been helpful.

It's a funky little hotel but a great find. It's actually a jazz bar with the rooms upstairs. Surprisingly, the rooms were very quiet. With everyone's concern about bedbugs these days, it was very reassuring that the room had clean wood floors, stainless steel racks for clothing and no fabric window coverings. The room was impeccably clean.
