Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Palms MotelOur hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Of all the budget-minded old motels in Portland, this one is certainly the very best overall. It's well-located in an up-&-coming area within steps of the Trimet MAX yellow-line train and short walking distance to great food and shops in the Mississippi neighborhood. It's clean and quiet and has all the modern conveniences of national chain motels, but it also has retained much of its vintage charm as a pre-interstate-freeway roadside motel, best seen in its fantastic neon sign which shows great pride. I've been faithfully staying here for three straight years, twice or thrice annually, and they are always improving it room by room. Ten years ago, you wouldn't have wanted to stay here, but today, it is junkie-free and caters mainly to travelers. ...

The Palms Motel is conveniently close to restaurants and public transportation. The area is quiet at night for a good night's sleep. The staff are quick to respond to any problem. Checking in and out was not at all complicated.

although the sign and location are great I had an unpleasant experience due to the staff. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is right on the MAX line so you can save money staying here and still get to downtown and other points fairly quickly and easily. I didn't really see any coffee shops or restaurants nearby, so that's a minus.

It is a good low cost alternative to staying in Downtown Portland.

There are so many other hotels in this area. Do NOT go to the Palms. It is privately owned so they "reserve the right" to make up ridiculous fees that are NOT in the terms and conditions on Priceline. Its not worth the headache and at the end of the day (after you have been "fee'" to death, the cost is just as expensive - if not more - than an upgraded hotel. Normally I ignore filling out hotel reviews, but my time here was uniquely miserable. ...

Don't expect a "big hotel" experience here. This is the quintessential circa 1980's motor hotel. That said - if you're just looking for a clean room and somewhere to lay your head - this is a great option. It's situated a very short drive from the convention center and is situation between two MAX stations for easy access to public transport.
