Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Normandy Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

This hotel is a very nicely decorated boutique. You walk in and instantly feel like you've arrived in France, which is a nice touch for the Embassy Row section of DC.
Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving. The air conditioning and elevator did not work anywhere in the hotel, the room had not been cleaned well, the staff cared more about charging me than offering any kind of apology.

We will never stay at this hotel again. In fact, I'm very upset that the hotel did not feel it necessary at any point to consider discounting the room, for which we paid full price. The air conditioning did not work at any point through the 80 degree day or night, the elevator shut down once, restarted service and then was permanently taken out of commission while we were there. This meant that everyone, luggage included, had to use the emergency stairwell. On the stairwell there appeared to be actually smudges of blood on the walls and doors. It was a horror scene. Our room had been refreshed with linens and towels prior to our check-in, but the bathroom appeared to have just been used. There was still bar soap fragments in the very wet - just used shower. This was a bit unsettling. Once I checked in, I had told the clerk that we booked through Priceline and had been charged already. He was very courteous and kind. Seconds after entering our room, however, the manager called to frantically tell me that I had not been charged, that my card was never "run" for the room and that they would also need to charge us. Turns out, he was wrong and the charges were already made. It's not a big deal but when I asked very calmly if he needed me to return to the desk to clear the charges up, he said it wasn't necessary. If that's the case, why call in such a panic? The entire experience was very disappointing. I feel like the hotel should have absolutely done or even said something to apology for the inconveniences but they did not. They offered nothing in terms of customer service. Overall, this was my worst experience in D.C., which says something considering I travel to DC twice a month. ...read more

on the first night they did not have the room we reserved available and my daughter had to sleep on a cot and the room was extremely tiny for us. There was no program listing at all for the room for the tv, there was no info. about the hotel in the room.

The front desk staff were very nice and tried to make up for not having a big enough room on the first night but it was a hassle to pack up everything again and move to a new room. No listing at all in the room for the tv. Had no idea what was on the channels, nothing that said what came with our room or what was included with our stay.

The staff were very accommodating and friendly.
The room was hot. I called down to the front desk and was told they are still running heat in the building and haven't turned the air on. We opened the window and the staff was kind and brought up a small fan. It turned out fine.

Very cozy hotel. Felt a little like bed and breakfast in a good sense.

The staff was awesome. They were very accommodating even though we had some issues with our room.
The front desk staff controls the temperature in your room. Our remote control did not work, and there was someone else's hair in our shower.

The hotel is located near many restaurants and bars, and it is only minutes away from museums and monuments; however, the rooms are very tiny, the refrigerator in the room was not cold, and the bathroom shower had some else's hair in it.

The hotel manager in didn't quite know what to make of a guest showing up with a bicycle or what to do with the bicycle. In the end I took it in my room with me like I usually do when I'm somewhere where I can't leave it on my car.

Cozy rooms with a modern feel, nice manager's reception, and a great staff. I will stay here every time I am in D.C.
The only downside was the hotel being a little bit of a walk to get to the closest Metro line.

Attentive staff. Unique, stylish decor. Many private nooks in public areas.
