Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Modern Honolulu

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location is very convenient. Very friendly staffs. Hotel is within walking distance to the Ala Moana mall. Quality coffee is served at the lobby. Access to $7 for 10 hours self parking across the street and $1 per hour meter parking around the mariner.
As one previous reviewer indicated, there's no kettle/coffee_maker in the room. There's also no bath tub.

The staff were amazing!
We didn't know about the parking fees....but were not surprised.

The ambiance was wonderful! If you go in during the day.....can you find the "hidden" lounge?? The resort is not ON the beach but very close. You can view the beach from the pool area though this spot does not have a beach front but rather a view of the marina. There are LOTS of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The ONLY parking options are Valet.

Great location, extremely helpful staff, free wi-fi for Internet, Morimoto restaurant
Can get a bit loud at night as there is a club in the building, the procedure for the key card to the elevator to get access to rooms isn't very good and often the elevator would close before we could get access to our floor

The hotel is around the Hilton Hawaiian Village which is about one mile above the touristy section of Waikiki Beach. For cheap eats, there are lots of chain restaurants right around the hotel such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Red Lobster. The concierge at the hotel is extremely helpful for getting you places and to whatever you need

Cool rooms. Great pool area.

Park at metered parking across the way and avoid the garage and valet.

There was an incredible amount of effort and a great attention to detail put into this hotel. Everything was very relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and they focus a great deal on making sure that their guests are comfortable.

The hotel has two fabulous swimming pools, which seem to get direct sunlight from about 11am onward, and there is a lagoon next door (accessible from the boardwalk next to the first floor pool. They have wonderful restaurants nearby, and both the front desk staff and concierge are extremely helpful. Also, the lobby is filled with the intoxicating scent of plumeria. There is not an in room coffee maker - instead they brew and serve coffee in the study off the lobby and the coffee is wonderful, I preferred it to Starbucks! ...read more

Clean, spacious room with nice, modern decorations.
Expensive overnight parking and noisy environment due to late opening at the club.

Don't ever try to valet parking. Way too expensive for $28. Park at street for only $1 an hour for as long as you like.

The hotel lobby bar called the Study was awesome. The room decor and quality of the furniture was high quality.

This hotel is definitely "modern". The rooms were spacious. The design, decor is upscale and modern. It is a contemporary hotel. It was very clean and the hotel staff were extremely nice. We definitely felt the aloha spirit, especially with the welcome drink (cilantro lemonade) and cold towels to cool us down from the island heat.
