Welcome to the The Modern Honolulu
Two pools, an outdoor movie theater and Waikiki Beach within walking distance are just a few of the reasons Priceline guests are please by The Modern Honolulu, which offers stylish non-smoking rooms with free Wi-Fi.
A chic, urban resort with a dash of laid-back surfer vibe, the 18-story Modern has 353 spacious rooms with plush beds, Frette linens, and Hawaiian touches such as tropical artwork and sarongs. The large windows afford views of the city, pools, harbor or ocean, and most rooms have furnished terraces. You also get free Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, DVD players and 46-inch LCD TVs with premium cable. Swim in the Sunrise Pool surrounded by a lush garden, day beds and chaise lounges — or wade in the Sunset Pool lagoon, where you'll find imported sand and a pool bar overlooking the ocean. The hotel also has an outdoor movie theater, luxury spa, fitness center, innovative Japanese restaurant, retail shops, parking (for a fee) and more.
The Modern is in central Waikiki overlooking the Yacht Harbor. Waikiki Beach is an easy 10-minute stroll. If you're driving from Honolulu International Airport, the hotel is 7.5 miles southeast.
This Modern is a magnificent and hip Waikiki-area perch, say Priceline guests who love this "awesome boutique hotel" and its "nice pool area."

Good location, cool bars, very modern. Would recommend to people who want to show off their new bodies around the pool or are more interested in showing off their designer swimwear.

Good central location, nice ammenities and clean. Room had some quirks... shutters from the bedroom into the bathroom??? Also, the bed was extremely low to the ground... however still very comfortable. Biggest issue was the club downstairs. It could be heard from the room all night long. If you are just using the room as a crash pad after a night on the town it'll be great. If you want sleep or some R&R, this is not the place to get it... the club doesn't close until 3:00 in the morning. ...

It was modern but noisy and wifi didn't work. Although I've complained twice, they didn't try to fix it. room# was 1636

Amazing service and food at Morimoto, that served the best coffee we have ever tasted. Great location. Great design from the remodel. Beware of the single paned windows, the noise from the busy street below is sooo loud in the morning (even on the 15th floor). You cannot sleep in with the noise pollution, as well as the normal light blocking window coverings you would expect at a 4.5 star hotel are not available, so it is very bright in the room as well starting at dawn. ...

We loved the modern vibe provided by the overall ambiance of the hotel environment and staff! The quality of service provided by the hotel staff was above and beyond our expectations and we felt very comfortable, both physically and mentally, at the hotel. From the greeting at check in to the services and amenities available to the final checkout at departure, this hotel was superb. We would definitely stay there again if we had the chance! ...

CLEAN AND KIND
August 5, 2013
This hotel is in a great location, and tries very hard to be "cool." That is hard to sustain when the carpets are dirty and the street noise is loud (even on the 12th floor). Other reviewers had complained about club noise, but I am not sure it is currently open. The street noise was definitley too much to leave the slider open. We ended up with a small room, with a king bed plus the air mattress--it was VERY tight. I was told that they were totally booked, and on the 2nd day I asked if we might be able to change (as the tropical storm was coming and I thought there might be cancellations) but was told that there was no possibility of moving. Another problem was the in room WiFi--it went out/stayed out for 2 days, while at the time the computers in the business center were not working well. At checkout, I was told that there was another code to access to a different WiFi, but of course, it had not been provided. I understand the hotel was booked, but I did not feel anyone cared about our situation. ...
