very authentic.
The location was not the best but it was not a dangerous location.

Best on the price of the other hotels, the Mad Hatter was fantastic. Had it been in the states I would not recommend it, but the price and quality level would have me returning. It was clean, safe and comfortable. It was also small and lacked the energetic personality of a Hyatt, Marriott or even a Hampton in the US. The location of this hotel is ideal if one doesn't mind short walks (<1 mile).
The bar is manned by the receptionist (after hours).

This hotel is within walking distance of Waterloo station, the Tower of London,the Tower Bridge, Shakespeare's Globe, etc. The Thames river-walk, alone, is an attraction. Two Underground stations (Southward-pronounced "Suthook" and Blackfriar's) are located a short distance away, and the Waterloo station is less than .5 mile(s) away.
