Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Liberty, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Boston

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Problem began upon arrival, No reservation found either by name or price line confirmation number, Booked for two nights 2-7-14 thru 2-9-14. 40 minutes later I had a room. The following day left the room to go out came back to hotel room door not opening , Proceeded to the front desk who informed me that they had me checking out that day , The room was still available so there was no room switching involved . Sunday morning checkout I ask for a hard copy of my bill which I normally never ask for to my shock the rates I was charged was no close to what I booked it for, I had two separate bills one for each night. I am still trying to straighten out the issue with the so far no response from anyone I have spoken to at the hotel ...read more

If you like a bustling, noisy scene, you'll love the Liberty. I've never stayed at a hotel that employed bouncers for the lobby -- not the bar, but the actual lobby. It wasn't my kind of place at all, though I can see how some might love it. Fortunately the noise didn't leak up to the tower room where I stayed. The rooms themselves are small and drab, but the location is spectacular, just 50 yards from the Red Line on Beacon Hill. ...read more

The staff & the amazing central lobby!
No!

Rarely, if ever, does the person who checks you in to a hotel make your experience phenomenal! Kasey Fielding, at Liberty Hotel truly made our night spectacular. She greeted us warmly, was speedy to check us in, BUT then did something unique- she asked us a personal question about why we were there (business, pleasure, special occasion)... To which my fiancé and I replied that we haven't seen each other for much after we got engaged, because I've been away at graduate school ... And we were celebrating the end if the semester. I randomly asked Kasey if there were upgrades available- to my surprise she was able to put us in a higher room with a better view and the MOST amazing bathtub/bathroom!! Now if the story stopped here, the Liberty Hotel would have earned 5 Stars, but no, they kept the excellent service coming. They give a free glass of champagne at check in! Later when we wanted to workout, they informed us they were renovating the gym, BUT they were providing free day passes to a gym down the street. What foresight to do for customers! To finish it off, we came back to a BOTTLE of champagne and fresh strawberries- with a personalized, handwritten note from Kasey- congratulating me on school and wishing my fiancé and I the best experience in Boston. What an amazing employee!!!!!!! Kasey, I hope you keep making people smile and exceeding expectations. As far as we are concerned- every time we come to Boston, we know exactly where we are staying- Liberty Hotel. Cheers to you! ...read more

The lobby is worth a visit with its historic background and is nicely renovated
My room (bed room part)was really, really dirty. Not only was the carpet dirty but, there was some garbage on the floor and the buttons of the telephone could not be pressed because they were stuck with dirt.

The lobby and history is all that makes this hotel special, only 18 of the rooms are in the old prison, tho. The rooms in the new tower building are bigger but there are no references to the historic image the hotel tries to build. The room i stayed in was very dirty (Not only was the carpet dirty, but there was some garbage on the floor and the buttons of the telephone could not be pressed because they were stuck with dirt) I think the hotels is relying to much on its background and its image as "in place" in the Boston night live. The lobby might be worth a visit, but u can do this without staying in the hotel. All in all this hotel felt not worth the money to me and clearly is supp par with hotels in this price range. ...read more

Turns into party location on Saturday night
Room luxury feel and cleanliness did not meet our expectations for price and star rating. I though this would be more upscale then it turned out to be.

Good hotel but not great. The great lobby is a nice experience but basically is the only outstanding feature of this hotel. The room in the jail tract was disappointing because it was nothing special. Had way higher expectations and they were not met.

Its history. They have kept the jail cell and cat walks. Its location being so closed to MGH was very helpful to me.
The night I was there they did not have the ABC Channel that I wanted to watch.I also did not like the closeness to the other bldg. I had to keep the window drapes closed as I found that anyone can look into my room.

The hotel was beautiful and very historical. The rooms were pretty large and their toiletries were good. The shower did take a long time to warm up.

Great location and was beautiful.
My reservation from Priceline was not on file. Had to book the room while there.

Place was awesome. Will definitely be staying there again.
