Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Hotel Modern New Orleans

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and rooms were clean.
parking was extremely inconvenient. $30 per day for valet and $10 day for self-park. parking garage was 3 blocks away and about a 15-20 min roundtrip if you choose to self-park. restaurant was ok compared to other local places. Wi-Fi was poor.

Hotel is a 2.5 star, possibly a 3.0 star but definitely not a 3.5 star. Parking was terrible as NOLA is hot and humid in June so a 15 minute walk for hotel parking is not ideal. Wi-Fi was terrible and not even feasible for business travelers as I constantly lost reception and when I did get a signal is was extremely weak. The hotel restaurant is only so-so compared to other local establishments and two of the dishes listed on the menu was not available during my 5 day stay. The staff was amazing which is the only reason I would even consider giving the Modern Hotel 3.0 stars. At --- per night, I thought "what an amazing price for a 3.5 star hotel." As a frequent business travel, I can tell you the Modern Hotel is a long ways from being 3.5 stars. The Modern Hotel is a good hotel if you're just looking for a place to lay your head for the night. The lobby is extremely small and the rest of the hotel is not accommodating for a business travel or for a family on vacation. The Modern Hotel is more suited for the person on vacation that just needs a room for the night and plans on spending their day and night outside of the hotel. ...read more

Comparatively to area hotels - NOTHING
Location and rooms were like dorm rooms. View was a small Window that overlooked HVAC units!

The staff was the best thing about this hotel. Everything else was a big let down!
It never would get cold. I had no hot water when I took my shower and our room coffee pot would not work. We had to walk across the street to get coffee.

It was really a big disappointment. I wish we had went to a different hotel. It made our stay miserable and ruined our trip.

I can not think of anything that was outstanding
The room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. There was no ice machine. The décor of the room was nonexistent. The hotel was trying to go for 3.5 stars but did not rate any more than 2 stars.

there were a number of things about the hotel that were a problem. The front desk did not have anyone at it many times during the day/evening. They had flavored water at the desk but yet never had glasses. It actually became a joke with my group. The staff rarely if ever cracked a smile. The hotel seemed to be going for a European look, crisp and clean. It did not work. The room cleaning was lacking. there was mold in the shower. They did not vacuum every day. I was there for 5 days. Upon check in and seeing the size of the room, I knew I had made a mistake. I was committed because I had gone through Priceline. Don't get me wrong, I have had very very good luck with Priceline, but the star rating on this one is way way off. I will not use Priceline in this area of the city again. My brother teased me about the hotel the entire trip. As I said it became a joke. He used Priceline and stayed in another part of the city. The location was fine. they were doing some sidewalk reconstruction in front of the hotel but that was fine. The room problems were the following: 1. Size 2. Décor non existant 3. Cleanliness (needed a little work) 4. The majority of the Staff needed customer service training. only one person was truly friendly and helpful. 5. The hotel seemed to be attempting to go for an upscale look. they failed in most ways. I have stayed in 5 stars down to .5 stars, this would be about a 2 star hotel. I have used Priceline in the past and will again, but possibly will shop around a little more next time in other areas. We live we learn. ...read more

The location was good right on the trolley
Our linens had some stains and we only had a very small window.

The hotel was great for what i wanted. It was in a good location and the staff was nice.

The air was on motion sensor. When you went to bed it shut off--how does that make sense for a customer?

This was an average stay at best. There was loud music most of the night coming from the bar easily heard from our bed. Once again, air conditioning on motion sensor, I suppose to save a buck(and the room was too expensive to cut a few pennies a room over!). We had to get up 5 or 6 times a night to get it to turn back on. Overall details not quite to where I would expect for the price range. ...read more

My car was hit while in the care of the valet service. I called the hotel, and they weren't really helpful. They gave me the phone number of the valet service mg, and I've called and left a VM. A few days have gone by, and I still haven't heard anything.

Attentive, friendly, helpful staff -- they make you feel as if they really appreciate your presence! Public spaces are attractively appointed and comfortable.
For a 3 1/2 star hotel, the room should have had a desk and at least one comfortable chair.

Location excellent for CBD and the Museum district and a 10 minute walk to the Quarter.
