Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Fort Garry Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It's a "grand dame" hotel - very elegant, and so well located in the city.
The rooms smell because the hotel is old. They are also quite small. But I generally love this hotel. I love that the bath tubs are nice and long!

The shampoos and soaps.
You cannot use debit, only cash or credit card, if you drive anything bigger than an Austin mini parking is tight, the restraunt menu is sparce, and we needed Tylenol and robaxacet which cost a whopping 32$.

The hotel is nice, but other than the outside and main floor there is nothing particularly impressive about it, even small additions that most hotels offer like in room coffee are not there. there is another hotel just down the street same star rating, and the costumer experience from start to finish is fantastic.

The public spaces are amazing. Lobby, lounge, restaurant, hallways, a rich sense of history and beauty throughout the building. The staff are excellent. Attention to detail is unmatched.
Steam from the bathroom shower set off the smoke alarm. Rooms need updating badly.

Everything about the Fort Garry hotel is first rate, with the exception of the actual hotel ROOM. they've opted to keep the charm and feel of a century old hotel, which is great, except it seems like they've used "character" as an excuse to not do any updates. Example, the bathrooms are no longer original, having a laminate counter from the 90s. Updating to stone/granite would retain character AND freshen the room nicely. The same can be said for the shower curtain/head, and the paint/carpet colour. These are things already replaced at one point, so it won't take away from "character" to do another update. Everything else about the hotel is amazing, it's a shame the rooms hold them back so much. Because of the test of the hotel, we would stay there again. ...read more

Old charm, but updated for modern travel. Super comfortable beds/linens. Great towels/bathrobe. Coffee delivery to rooms. Great functioning Internet at no charge. Superb breakfast in dining room.great deal for people staying at hotel.
Self-parking charges high but not outrageous.

Great location, historic beauty. Undergoing non-intrusive updates. Renovated ballrooms.

Classic CP hotel. Only a few in the whole of Canada. Staff were great, Winnipegers are a friendly people!
My room was dark. Faced other rooms. Still, old-fashioned elegance won the day. A great hotel.

Don't miss it when you visit Winnipeg!

The service was fabulous and despite the somewhat dated nature of the room decor, I found myself really enjoying the experience. Compared to the typical business travelers hotel, this has tons of character. Would definitely stay here again.
