Hotel Guest Reviews of the Super 8 Motel - Hartford

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Nothing!
Almost Everything!

This hotel is old, worn, and run down. This is definately NOT a 2 star hotel! It's a 1 star at best. It's dirty, nothing works right, and the problems just continue from there... Don't waste your money staying here.

I liked the location of the hotel.
I wish there was more offered at breakfast like donuts and I didn't like that the staff smelled like smoke and smoked outside in front of the door. I also thought that the whole hotel could use updating, I've stayed in nicer hotels for cheaper.

Night staff was friendly. In the location I needed to be.
Day staff was rude...Back door did not lock shut, leaving it open to anyone who wanted to wonder in and there was no security light back there so it felt very unsafe. Rooms were ok. What you expect for the price.

Cheap room, but remember you get what you pay for. I am going up again this week and am choosing to stay at a different hotel only for security reasons when leaving my wife alone while I am working. I would feel unsafe leaving her at this hotel alone, just because of the lack of security measures in place (no outside lighting and back door wide open to anyone)

The price was good. It was clean. We got waffles for the continental breakfast, which I like to get.
No restaurant in walking distance without crossing the highway.

Quiet location.
Older hotel with old carpeting with stains.

An OK hotel for the price but could use some updates.

Location and convenience
It needs updating and renovation...starting with the "fitted" sheets that don't fit!

It's a classic Super 8, no frills, that needs to be freshened up. Fitted bedding is clean, but no longer fits the mattress well enough to stay in place. Hall carpets could be cleaned. TV's could be upgraded to flat screens. Breakfast was more of a promise than a reality...but there are inexpensive places nearby (Mc D's and Webbs). I got my moneysworth, and the place is what it is. ...read more

Close to family.
Dirty and
unsafe.

For a positive note, this hotel was conveniently located to my husband's relatives and had a fridge and microwave, and they do offer free breakfast. Other than that, everything else is negative. The staff at check-in didn't know if we had paid or not, she was new, clueless about everything. The room was filthy. We put a carton of milk in the fridge, assuming of course the fridge was plugged in. Not the case, however, and the milk was spoiled in the morning. Other appliances were either unplugged (such as lamps) or did not work at all. There was evidence of a large hole punched in the bathroom door. The room is dark and dreary, carpet is horrible, towels are horrible, bathroom is tiny, etc. The air-conditioning could not be set to another setting and it was rather warm in the room for the 100 degree temperature outside. The entrance was unsafe as even though they had card key entry, you could enter without the card. When we came back to our room late at night (about 11pm), the room diagonal across the hall from ours was wide open with the lights on. So, I went over to peek (from a safe distance) in there. There was no one in it, no belongings, lights on of course, no sign of people at all, and two latex gloves on the end table! This, at 11 pm! We will never stay here again. Thank god our children stayed overnight at the relatives house.
