The hotel was very clean throughout.
Wifi is not free at this hotel, though there is a PC available in the lobby. The rooms could use a bit of an update.

The hotel is within a 2 minute walk of the TRONE metro station.

Terrible service from the staff and management.

What a nightmare! They stole my security deposit. I booked 3 nights at this hotel through a booking website and paid the cost of my stay including all taxes and fees online before my arrival. Upon arrival, the reception confirmed that payment was made in full but asked for 150 euros in cash as guarantee for extra services. I gave them that amount and received a receipt. Upon check out however, the hotel refused to return my deposit in full, claming that there are extra taxes that had to have been paid upon arrival! I showed them my reservation confirmation which stated that the payment was for the ¿total charges¿ including all ¿taxes and fees¿. I explained this to the manager at the reception, but after keeping me for more than THIRTY minutes to ¿verify¿ their system, she returned to only tell me that the said taxes were not included! I explained to her that if taxes were excluded, this should have been reflected on my confirmation. At this point she said my confirmation is wrong(!) and that I should pay and complain to the booking website! I asked to talk to the hotel general manager. After waiting and waiting, a man came and introduced himself as the representative of the general manager, Sophie, who was on vacation for at least another month! After arguing with me forever, telling me how my confirmation is wrong(!), and preaching to me how the hotel business works(!), Tom refused to even refund the remaining of my deposit after the hidden charges, unless I signed a receipt indicating that I accept the extra charges! I can¿t remember whether I was more shocked or appalled by this suggestion. They stole my deposit in bright day light and now expected me to agree to it too!! After fruitlessly waiting for over an HOUR, my girlfriend reminded me that we have to leave to catch our train. So we left without a penny of our deposit back to make it to our train. It was elegant and had a lovely bathroom.
An expensive hotel should not charge for coffee and wi-fi. The breakfast (which we did not eat) was outrageously expensive.

An elegant place with very nice and helpful staff. Very nice bathroom. The room was overheated and we had trouble cooling it down even with the window open. Services which should have been complimentary (like coffee, for example) were not. I don't expect to pay the kind of prices Stanhope charges over coffee and internet.

Excellent hotel. Definitely a 5 star. Great location. Very courteous and friendly staff.

The staff was beyond helpful and the facility is marvelous.
Window Curtains in our bedroom where not clean and needed washing or replacing.

Great location if you are willing to walk about a bit to touristy areas, very quiet for that reason. Hotel staff was very friendly and very approachable (best part of the hotel to me). Great lobby decor alongside the plentiful breakfast selection. I would stay over and over again here but, I would recommend for the window curtains to be replaced ASAP. Fine establishments need to play attention to details, this one might have been overlooked. ...read more

The bartender was a joy. Lovely historic feel.
Small closet-like room was up a spiral staircase, hard to get baggage in and out.

The beautiful historic hotel is located in a business area that is quiet on the weekends, 15 minute walk from central square. Our room was small and difficult to access. After climbing and descending 2 small staircases, we were faced with hauling our luggage up a narrow spiral staircase, and down 4 more stairs side the room. It appeared that this room was formerly a closet. When we arrived, it appeared as if the maid hadn't finished making up the room. There was no shampoo or other amenities, and only 1 towel. Cozy, classy hotel near EU headquarters. Wonderfully friendly and helpful service. Charming English themed rooms. Lovely lobby and patio.

I dropped my luggage off the morning of my check in date: When I returned that evening; the luggage was in my room; along with a rose in a vase.

Wonderful service. Tranquil atmosphere. Very close to EU buildings.
