Hotel Guest Reviews of the Spruce Grove Inn

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It was in Banff! It was cheap! The staff were VERY polite.
The room was not ready at check in (4 o'clock). Luckily, we were going to dinner. The girl at the desk was VERY polite. I felt sorry because NONE of the rooms were ready and there was a line up at the desk.

The kids loved the pool but it was next door. LOL! The sauna was broken. The breakfast was alright but it was poorly organized. They used paper and Styrofoam. I feel that was an environmental disaster. The hostess looked like she had been dancing all night with me. Honestly, I had more energy than she did! They had NO where to help clean up. The hostess had NO bussing cart and she was balancing dirty Styrofoam across this large room. The staff at the front desk were so polite and kind under pressure. The guests in front of me checking out were telling the girl due to being German with limited English skills that their bathroom was 'raining' due to a obvious water leak. LOL! There was no problems with our room. It was simple and cheap. The noise was fair as the hotel was at maximum occupancy for the night. ...read more

It had a balcony.
No ironing board nor iron, no hair dryer, have to call the front desk and wait an hour for one. No fridge, uncomfortable beds, really dated rooms. It says it is a 3 Star hotel, the outside looks like it could be, the inside tells another story.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. For the price ----- with tax - you would think the room would actually be decent. Not the case, won't be back.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, short walk to downtown Banff.
Free breakfast was skimpy, no cell reception in the room - had to go outside and walk about 30 m down the street to get cell reception.

The location of this Hotel is excellent, and the under-ground secure parking is very nice.
The room we checked in, had already occupied by another guest. The staff had no idea what happened, after phone-in to the management, we're reassigned to a upgraded room with the same price, nice gesture!

Good location, and easy access to Banff's city center with walking distance but far enough to enjoy a quiet atmosphere.

Room was big and the underground parking was very secure.
Would have been nicer if it were closer to the town center or train station.

It was a good value for the price and worked out great for our stay.

location, location!!
HOUSEKEEPING.

Well It felt like being in a movie, those "funny" ones. First, when we arrive they have give us a different room, of what I have paid for, I have requested a double bed, instead the put me and my almost 9 month pregnant wife in a single, they told us it was and "upgrade", I have to explain that due to my wife's pregnancy she need it a bed for herself, so they move us from the 4th floor the the main floor, room was ok,until midnight when our toilet stop working, no water was running so in order to flush it we have to used a bucket.. there was nobody en the reception at that time and even by calling them no one help us, so it was not a very pleasant night, my wife used the washroom a lot due to her pregnancy. No ice near us, so we have to go all the way to the 5th or 6th floor in order to get it. The lady on the main counter was new, and it was her first day she try her best but she did not knew much about where everything was in the hotel. We love Banff and try to go as much as we can, next time we will thing more than twice before staying here. I would only recommended this hotel for the location. ...read more

The price, followed by the location. The exterior of the hotel is very appealing also.
The experience could be improved by Creating an inviting atmosphere in the lobby. It was an instant let down when you walk in. Add some art to the walls, make sure the bulletin board is current. I suspect the front desk help was new, provide training.

The front desk person was flustered, training in interpersonal skills and service would help in improving the first impression. The fellow(looked like he might be a maintenance worker) who came to her rescue was great, he should be in this position. The entry tile at the front door was broken and the carpet in lobby was dirty. The room was big, but the furniture was set up wrong. You should put the table and chairs in front of the window to take advantage of the view and add a luggage stand. The bedspreads are so 80's. These inexpensive fixes go along way to improving the clients impression and willingness to return. Lastly when we checked out the room cleaning crew walked by a dirty washcloth left outside a room door 6 times and didn't pick it up or the chocolate bar wrapper in the hallway. This was all visible from the front counter. There was a table in the front lobby with white linen on it. What would it take to put coffee, water or flowers on it for guests? It just reminded everyone that something was missing. Again a small inexpensive fix that would improve the guest experience. The experience fell short but it didn't have to. The hotel rooms are large, the location is good. Work on cleaning things up and adding some character to the place! ...read more
