Hotel Guest Reviews of the Sands Motel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It is cheap and clean. Everything worked. Perfect for a traveller who just needs to sleep.
Old, clearly vintage, a little cramped.

Great value for the price plus it is a genuine Route 66 motel. This was my 3rd time!
Walls are thin but to be expected at an economy price.

For the price, I found that this little motel had a room that was updated and was clean, good shower, bed was comfortable, wifi and a new TV and matched in quality to higher priced motels in New Mexico.

Staff was very friendly with check-in and for information.
Nothing

Great motel that harkens back to the motor hotels of yesteryear. Route 66 is full of motels that have succumbed to the fancy hotels just off the freeways and those in the old downtowns of so many towns like Grants have folded. So neat to see that some, like the Sands have refused to be boarded up. Elvis Presley stayed here at the Sands and one of the rooms happily states that fact on the door. We enjoyed our stay a lot!! ...read more

It's a vintage 1950s era motel with a few updates, such as an in-room refrigerator, a microwave, and WiFi. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff was very polite. The price cannot be beat!
If I had known that trains run all night long, and that Grants is basically a truck stop now, I might have selected a different place to stay (i.e., not Grants). However, given that it is very convenient to the Malpais, it was still fine.

The hotel is pet-friendly and within walking distance of a good Mexican restaurant, which, however, closes very early. There are plenty of decent dining options, but for later-evening non-fast-food service, you have to go a few miles to Milan.

This is a small motel that is on Route 66. The owners are extremely nice, and they offer coffee in the morning which a lot of small motels do not anymore. The room was very clean, the shower had a lot of pressure. The TV is a flat screen
Nothing, they had ice, the beds were comfortable. It is just older that is all, but that is it's charm

Nothing - maybe the woman at the counter. She was nice enough.
Facility was ancient - and had no renovations. Sketchy part of town and a bit scary. The Internet was nonexistent and the 'help' was useless. Of course it worked in the office. The router didn't even show up as a choice most of the time.
