Nice common areas, noisy music from restaurant next door, tropical appearance of common areas outside, nice views from our room

After finding out that excess water would back up into our bathtub, they waited a couple of days before they moved us to another room where the toilet kept running until you jiggled the handle. We got a free breakfast buffet for complaining, and that was terrible. Place needs to replace their plumbing among other things.

This hotel is great. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable. They were very helpful every time we talked to them. The location is great, right on the ocean and at the of the "Kona Strip".

Resort? Absolutely NOT a resort. Charged extra for parking and wifi. Exterior was tired. Staff was unfriendly. Bathroom was tired and tiny. Shower head was terrible. Shower spray was similar to a water house outside the house. Rooms have improved from 2011, but still overpriced and still NOT a resort. Food is expensive. No hot tub. PRICELINE should drop this property or rate it properly. I would give it no more than a 6.0. ...

The Royal Kona Resort is in a great location in Kailua-Kona, a short walk to the main tourist area of shops and restaurants and about 30minutes from Kona airport. The lobby, pool and restaurant are visually appealing and the hotel offers a "Lu'au" dinner show. In the standard rooms, it's a little shabby and dated, though the balcony faces the water (good to dry towels and swimming clothes and view next door's roof). It will cost an additional $10 per car per day to park though you can drive in and out multiple times. ...
