Hotel Guest Reviews of the Red Lion Hotel Salem

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location was good. Bed was comfortable.
Very outdated. Elevators were scary.

Located close to freeway. Like stepping back to 1986. Decorated in 80s pimp colors. I expected Huggy Bear to walk out at any moment. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was small and not the cleanest.

On site restaurant with wonderful and hard working waitress.
Some of the front desk staff was inexperienced and unsupervised. Immature and uninformed about policy.

Close proximity to freeway and Kroc Center

I have stayed at this hotel many times. My son is going to school in Salem, so we stay in Salem often to visit. Although I don't rate this hotel as a 3 star (it's more of a 2 1/2 star compared to others that I've stayed at), it is clean, convenient, and there is a certain hotel desk employee who I've come to know and is very helpful. I wish I could remember her name, but don't... Free internet, parking. No free breakfast. We have never eaten at the hotel restaurant. ...read more

It is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Internet, non-existent...Pillows, cheap, chunky, gave a neck ache.

stayed here a few times over years while daughter at college. Internet worked then. NON existent now....and from what I read has been not working for a while now. Pillows are the cheapo ones you buy at a cheap store and they are NOT comfortable at all. Put my neck and back out.... Building is dated, but for the price it was way better than other options (Super 8 and a few others....than what Priceline offered. Overall would recommend it, but don't advertise amenities you don't have....internet is a necessity for many people nowadays... ...read more

The location is convenient.

This hotel seems to be the only 3-star rated hotel in Salem that Priceline books with. As usual, we were put in a cramped room, with poor lighting. We always feel like we are put into one of the "left over" rooms when we stay here. I even offered to pay an additional fee to upgrade but that wasn't an option - no upgrade rooms available. To make coffee, we had to move the tray the coffee maker was on to the floor to reach an outlet. There was a large ugly extension cord plugged in and curled up in the corner - I think that is what the TV was plugged in to. We stayed two nights and when we came back to the room the second night, I found a note from housekeeping apologizing for breaking my curling iron. Compared to other 3-star hotels we have booked in other cities, this hotel is over-rated. Next time we book in Salem I will lower our star rating - I believe we will get a much better hotel. ...read more

Clean & quiet
The bathroom door did not close easily. We requested adjoining rooms, which we got but the microwave and refrigerator were in front of the adjoining doors. We moved them ourselves.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and got a really good price.
