Hotel Guest Reviews of the Red Lion Hotel Salem

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The staff where very friendly.
The room was not as clean. The pillows didn't smell clean. Stained and holes in sheets. The swimming pool chairs where filthy.

The staff was kind
The hotel looks like it's falling spart. Views from the back rooms look out on to the roof and it's a horrible sight. The pool area is musty and they have doors sealed with duck tape. The light in the bathroom was so dim I could hardly see at night.

Has an indoor swimming pool. Little office with printer. Quiet clean room. Staff was friendly and helpful with things to do in town.
Parking lot seemed full. Public spaces and rooms might need a refresh.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was right off the freeway which was helpful for me
The room was small for the price.

Overall I was pleased with this hotel. Staying at several other red lion hotels I was expecting a lil more. It seemed like a pretty average room compared to the price. The room was clean and staff was very friendly.

Staff were all incredibly polite, professional, and helpful. Bathroom was large.
Hotel lobby was dark and dingy and felt uncomfortable (this is the second time I've noticed this problem at a Red Lion hotel). Television in room was an old, massive box with a curved LCD screen. Toilet in bathroom sounded like a jet engine when flushed

Our family of five (including three young children) stayed here for a few days after moving back to Salem while we were looking for a home. Hotel staff were very courteous and were always helpful. The hotel itself was dated and the lobby was dark and dingy, but the beds were comfortable. The location was right off of I-5, which may seem convenient for people passing through Salem but is pretty inconvenient for getting around the rest of Salem proper. It should be noted that almost all of the hotels in town are located in the same area though, so it's not a problem experienced just by the Red Lion. ...read more
