The location. Near downtown, the Garden District and a trolley car out the front.
Not enough power points to charge laptop and phone. 2 were broken.

The hotel is lovely. The architecture is great for a quality inn - has a historic New Orleans touch and doesn´t look like a big chain hotel. The rooms are also well designed, purple walls, a velvet armchair, black and white checkboard tiles. Lovely!
My reservation for the first night was not honored. They said they were full. Sent me to another hotel down the road that only had single beds then the Comfort Inn in downtown that I checked on trip advisor only to find out it had bed bugs.

The hotel is lovely. We stayed there the second night of my reservation. Parking is $17 dollars and is in a lot. The housekeepers are very helpful. I was a bit upset about the first day,and their inability to honor my reservation but eventually after an hour everything was resolved and we ended up at a very nice Quality Inn in downtown at their expense. I think the hotel is one of the loveliest I´ve stayed in at that pricepoint its too bad the trouble with reservations and the poor hotels they tried to refer me to the first night sort of marred the experience. ...read more

The Staff was wonderful. The Common Areas were lovely. The Location is awesome. Its a $10-$15 or less cab ride to the French Quarter, Superdome, Tipitinas Uptown, Mahalia Jackson Theater, Jazz Fest etc
The rooms themselves are OK. They are in need of some tasteful updating. The Parking is a bit quirky if you're assigned to an overflow parking located directly behind the compound on Erato St. And, it's $17 a day to park.

Overall? I liked the place. It's old. Like most older locations in and around New Orleans, the rooms and the buildings have a patina. The King-Sized bed was very comfortable. The Shower was hot and the water wasn't Soft. The room had a working Microwave and a 1/3 sized Fridge/Freezer. The TV was an HD LCD Flatscreen with about 60-70 basic Cable stations The decor is well-worn however and needs updating. The Parking is a bit quirky if you're assigned to an overflow parking area located directly behind the compound on Erato St. Also, it's $17 a day to park. The neighborhood it's located in wasn't too bad. There were some typical-friendly NOLA style panhandlers in and around the area. The compound itself had friendly Security folks the were pretty visable and did a great job of guiding obviously lost tourists. The dining selections within walking distance vary from Fastfood joints like Wendys and Popeyes just a few steps away. There's an Irish Pub-Themed restaraunt close by. However, No Shepherds Pie, just applebrandy encrusted fancy-schmancy pricey dishes. The Tavern has good wait staff and killer-fresh afterhours Pub/Bar Faves and Breakfast 24/7 and Dranks y Beers. VooDoo BBQ was okay. Superior Grill is a mile or so up St. Charles. Very good TexMex but a bit pricey. Double Margaritas made with fresh ingredients Lime Juice etc with Top Shelf Tequila were $16 and most entres averaged $15-$20. ...read more

The lobby staff was friendly and helpful. The parking was secure and reasonably priced. The beds and bed linens were extremely comfortable.
The staff in the breakfast room was surly. The streetcar in front of the hotel ran infrequently.

A good hotel for a good price in New Orleans. The main drawback is that it is about a mile from the French Quarter. It is an easy walk during daylight, but a couple of blocks are a little "iffy" at night. The St. Charles Street Streetcar stops directly in front of the hotel, but although the RTA says that the streetcars run every 15 minutes, we found that it was more like 45 minutes, which could be inconvenient. ...read more
