Hotel Guest Reviews of the Pocono Inn At Water Gap

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

That it was cheap. We needed a place to stay on an impromptu trip up to PA.
The smell of the hallways. The towels and chairs in the room had stains on them. The king sized bed only had 3 pillows. My room card did not work the 2nd day of our stay as the girl at the front desk was not the sharpest tool in the shed.

We learned our lesson in that, it's worth the extr---
a night when you stay at a hotel. A place this cheap is that cheap for a reason.

Good price, with breakfast and close to Shawnee Mountain Ski Area,
Hotel has a strange smell and look a few old.

The front desk clerk was very nice, especially given the challenging hand she was dealt by a property in a very sorry state of disrepair.
This place is probably beyond renovating at this point. It is run down, dirty and smells bad. Great location, but that is about it.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I don't know what else I could say. The first room we checked into had not even been cleaned after the last guest checked out. The second had a defective door lock, which based on the comments of the desk clerk, was just the latest of many added to the bad locks list. The third room was clean enough, but the carpet was threadbare and loose, with wrinkles. The toilet had to be flushed twice to empty. And the entire place smelled. Even in the room, where we found four different household type air fresheners sitting around, the odor persisted. From the appearances, I'd guess a lot of the rooms are in such disrepair, they don't even try to rent them. Many on the first floor had the air conditioning vents boarded up. And judging from the smells coming from a room at one end of the hall on the wing we were in, I'd guess there are people living there and cooking with a hot plate or something. The smell was too strong to have come from cartons of carry out. It's a shame, because this is in a great location just of I-80 at the Delaware Water Gap. But I am not sure I could even recommend it to college kids looking for a cheap Poconos stay for skiing of a canoe trip. Not even sure I'd suggest it to Appalachian Trail hikers looking for a cheap room for an in-town zero day, and trust me, those folks will stay in some pretty dank places. My suggestion to the owners would be to find someone interested in the real estate and sell. ...read more

The first room we were given, Was not room we reserved. When we went back down to the desk he told us that the king room with balcony was not on our reservation, which was untrue. He then changed our room to a king room. When we got to that room the do not disturb sign was on the door. After calling down to the office he explained to me that the room was empty. And after entering the room I come into a room that is not cleaned bed slept in, and trash all over the room. At that point we return the key to the basket and told him we were not staying I left. I then booked another room at a comfort inn seven or more miles away ...read more

Nothing!
Not near restaurants or grocery stores, not clean, staff not knowledgable about area or returning calls or attending to needs

This hotel is not only dirty but included no amenities. It looked like it was still under Construction as there were holes in the wall as well as no pool.

Location, easy to find, just off interstate highway.
The property could use a remodel. The room was ok but the air conditioner took a long time- 7 hours - to cool the room.

Overall, it was just OK but I would not stay there again.

The part when we got to leave. I especially liked how I never received a phone call back from Priceline and was ignored and forgotten about in my disgusting hazardous room.
I was told the hotel would be cheaper on Priceline, had a bar, was located by water, had an attached restaurant, clean spacious non smoking rooms and a patio area. The hotel did not have ANY of this, completely falsely advertised and robbed by Priceline.

The hotel website and Priceline falsely advertised that this hotel had a bar, was located by water, had a great continental breakfast and conference room for meals. I was told that they had clean spacious NON SMOKING rooms. I told told by Priceline that I would be getting a discounted rate and turns out that I actually was charged more in total by going through Priceline than the hotel would have charged me directly. When we first walked into the hotel it smelled like urine and bleach. We wafted through the pungent odor all the way up to our room. When we got in the room smelled of cigarettes and this is after we were told at check in that NO SMOKING WHATSOEVER IS ALLOWED IN THE ROOMS or we would be fined $250. The smoke detector had a plastic bag over it. The walls and ceiling had silly string strewn about it. The phone rang every 8 seconds very lightly but no one was ever on the other end. The bathroom light turned on and off on it's own. I called Priceline only to be laughed at by their "customer service" representative and told that there wasn't anything they could do and definitely COULD NOT refund our money after their little bait and switch. THANKS PRICELINE FOR THE WORST ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND EVER! ...read more
