Hotel Guest Reviews of the Planters Inn

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

I loved the location. It really was walking distance to so many great spots. The lobby offers free coffee or wine and cheese at certain times during the day. The staff was great. The bed and pillows were SUPER comfortable.
The hotel is older. It is definitely well maintained, but apparently they thought guests would appreciate knowing about a supposed ghost that roams the halls. It is printed in the binder you'll find in the room, so heads up on that.

I wouldn't mind staying there again, but I would probably keep an eye out for something better and newer. There is no denying the great location and great service though. The breakfast was pretty standard, but the selection was not bad. The free wi-fi was decent, and I believe there is an option to upgrade speeds for a cost. The hotel does not have a gym or pool, but they provide free nearby access to that (no hot tub). Despite the hotel being full for the nights we stayed, it was quiet almost all of the time. That was nice. ...read more

Very Charming. Loved the location, could walk to almost everything. Staff was super nice.
Street noise was the ONLY complaint I have.

I would recommmend it to anyone who asks where they should stay in Savannah

We were surprised to find our room had twin beds. We always have queen or king. I asked to change and they wanted $44 more. They said Priceline ordered this. I thought my Priceline profile was more accurate. Very disappointing.

Hotel was great no issues, will definitely return. Priceline however quoted me $10 higher per night than I could receive at the hotel directly. When I called Priceline to inquire why, I was told I was purchasing extra services and I could not get my money back. They said I could cancel and rebook, I did not want to chance the hotel being booked nor do I have the time. Well, the hotel includes what Priceline said I would be paying extra for. Because of this, I will always call the hotels first and spend the extra few minutes to get the best deal. I used Priceline because in the past they always saved me money. In this case they cost me more and I had to call customer service to ask for the same rate, which I did not get ...read more

That is was in the historic district of Savannah. The breakfast was above average.
The size of the room/bed size.

We booked this for a Sunday night, then after re-evaluating our trip discovered we were able to leave a day earlier. We were unable to reserve a room at this rate for Saturday night or move the reservation, and therefore had to stay at another hotel. The other hotel was nicer and less expensive, but this was inconvenient. If the hotel had been more accommodating to our circumstances, it would have greatly increased my rating of our experience there and of the priceline experience. ...read more

The staff were professional yet friendly, understanding and caring, I loved the complementary breakfast , my husband and I have very different ideas on breakfast and we were both very happy with the selection.
The view from my upgraded room was a big parking deck. It would be wise to ask for a square view or a street view on booking

The hotel was a pleasure to stay in. Booking through priceline sadly got us 2 single beds in a room which wasn't made clear to me on booking and so upon arrival I asked if I could swap to a queen , for a $20 upgrade fee I was given a more suitable room right away with no fuss. The hotel is very busy and I feel lucky there was a room available. Everything about the hotel was lovely. The quality of the rooms, the staff, the food and the little extras such as the evening social and the speed of room service was awesome. It hit its 3 1/2 star status easily and is perfectly situated. I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning. ...read more

It was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at. They offered a very nice breakfast each morning. The breakfast room was very clean and well taken care of. The staff were so nice. It was in a great location, within walking distance of touring.
Not A Thing...

It was in a great location, within walking distance of touring, shopping and great restaurants. The staff were outstanding, very helpful and friendly. The morning breakfast was included and was really nice. The hotel is beautiful and really clean and well taken care of. Each night there was a complimentary wine and cheese reception in the lobby. Also, at 9:00 pm each night there were homemade complimentary cookies. We would stay here again. ...read more

The location right off of a park square and near the waterfront in the historic downtown area is fantastic.
I didn't like the double twin beds (I've actually never stayed in a hotel with twin beds before), but most importantly, I didn't like that the hotel is located directly next to a large, noisy parking garage. And you can hear EVERYTHING through the walls.

The location is great, but also terrible. Great location for walking to everything in the historic district, but terrible location for sleeping. Bring earplugs. If you stay up really late (2am) and wake up really early (7am), being right next to a noisy public parking garage won't be a problem. I didn't see a single employee smile even once while I was there, and I think that just made the whole place feel very blah to me. The small (twin) beds were very comfortable and the room was clean but worn. Overall, there were a lot of little things wrong that made me feel like three and a half stars might be undeserved. Are a free bottle of water, daily newspaper, and complimentary wine and cheese hour all it takes to get there? Those things are definitely nice perks, but if it's nearly impossible to sleep, I just don't know. I'd stay here again, but only if I got a great rate and went on another slow weekend with earplugs in tow (I can't even imagine the amount of noise that would come out of that garage on a busy weekend). ...read more
