Welcome to the Morrison Clark Historic Inn
A charming boutique hotel set in a Victorian mansion and featuring a seasonal outdoor pool and fine dining, the non-smoking Morrison Clark Historic Inn combines gorgeous period details with modern comforts.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Morrison Clark was originally two adjacent family homes built in 1864. Beautiful features from that era remain, including lofty medallion ceilings and Italian marble fireplaces. The hotel houses a stylish restaurant featuring 10-foot gilded mirrors and a tranquil veranda and courtyard. An adjacent lounge serves cocktails and a variety of small plates. There is also a fitness room and a 24-hour business center. The 54 rooms and suites feature antique and handcrafted furnishings, plush carpets, richly hued draperies and handsome quilts. Select rooms have private balconies and decorative fireplaces. Cable TV is standard, as are complimentary daily newspapers and overnight shoeshine service. The hotel provides indoor parking for an additional fee.
The Morrison Clark is located two blocks from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, two blocks from Mt. Vernon Square and four blocks from the Metro. The hotel is within two miles of the White House, the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Institution and the International Spy Museum. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is five miles and Washington Dulles International Airport is 27 miles from the hotel.
Priceline guests rave about the "charming and quaint" Morrison Clark for its "great location in a nice neighborhood," "beautifully appointed" rooms, "helpful staff," "delicious restaurant" and complimentary fresh-baked cookies.

Overall, great experience and nice place to stay. Despite the musty smell, I would recommend this Inn as a nice quite place to stay with a great location.

Although the hotel is historical, I believe some improvements are in order. Ironic enough, they try to impress me by upgrading me to the suite, but that did not work.
The carpet is ugly all the way around, a real eye sore. I wasn't fond of the stairs outside and the low door handle on the south side, weird. The TV is small (24" maybe) and located inside the armoire. The suite's extra room, w/the armoire and tv, had this really ugly couch. The kind you're hesitate to sit on. The light switches are all in weird positions and mostly on lamps. I spent way to much time trying to figure the place out, from switches to finding the iron, which was kind-of hidden. The place did not flow well. Lastly, the front desk clerk needed my CC for incdidentals ($110), but said he couldn't use the CC on file that I used to purchase the room. After I checked out I told another staff member about this and she told me that was wrong and they could have used the original corporate card on file for incidentals.
Wired and wireless wifi, coffee in the room, mini bar, 2 blocks from Washington Convention Center and Metro. Also, they have excellent food and service at their restaurant. I had the sweet potatoes soup (awesome) and the catch of the day (great salmon).
Overall, I would not go back to Morrison Historical Inn (maybe to restaurant), but rather go to the Eldon Suites one block closer to the WCC/Metro. They both are the cheapest hotels in that area and have unattractive buildings, but the inside of Eldon Suites is totally up-to-date and makes sense, including a big TV, complete kitchen, and view of the WCC (no big deal). ...

Clean, comfortable room. Conveniently located in the city. Just don't let them recharge you if you have paid for the room.

Very attractive, historic building. Room was not very big, but it was very clean and cozy. Its layout was a bit awkward, with the TV cabinet door touching the foot of the bed when open, meaning if someone was watching TV, you had to close it or climb over the bed to reach the bathroom. Not a deal breaker by any means, but it was a bit annoying. Housekeeping was great, even giving us fresh towels twice in a single day. Happy hour in the restaurant was good, as was the food. ...
