Hotel Guest Reviews of the Menger Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

We loved this history of the hotel and the location. It is right across the street from the Alamo and a block from an entrance to the river walk. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful!

Loved staying in this hotel full of history! Older style rooms, but comfy and clean. The location is AMAZING! You can walk pretty much anywhere from the Menger. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!

The atmosphere and proximity to the Alamo and Riverwalk.
At the time, the entrance near the parking garage was under construction and the valet got a little backed up. Overall good experience.

Nice place, great location, great price.

Just a few feet from the Alamo, you cannot beat the location!
Some things were in need of repair, such as 2 electrical outlets did not work and the water seemed dirty because sediment came through the pipes as well. On a separate note, valet parking is the only option.

This hotel is very unique. This was my 4th time to stay here. It is quirky, and would not be my first choice. However, the location almost makes up for the quirkiness. There is really nothing wrong with the hotel, I just prefer a "typical" hotel.

Room was dowdy looking. Furnishings in room a bit sparse. Room smelled stale. And only one elevator worked.

Great character and amazing staff.

It has a pool in the courtyard and the room, bathroom and living areas were clean
They are currently under the construction on the first floor

The staff were friendly and courteous. Some people commented that the walls are very thin and if somebody talks loud in the other room you can hear them. Nobody was yelling next door. MANGO ICE CREAM!!!! at the colonial room is to die for. We were charged for valet parking though we parked in the garage next door. They took care of that quickly. The place itself had a nice antique look but it could stand to have some of the wallpaper removed since it looked more like something from the 80s. ...read more

Hotel was charming. Location was great. No car needed. Excellent bar. Everything was easy breezey.
Parts of the hotel were warm. But it's July in Texas. So heat was expected

Very historical and interesting. Would love to stay there on a return trip.
