Hotel Guest Reviews of the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The location was perfect. Beacfront on Maui is hard to beat. Close to restaurants and shopping too.
Room was still dirty upon check in. Empty beer bottle and trash was found in bathroom. Also smelled of a mildewy AC unit. Room is dated with popcorn ceiling. No elevator either, just stairs.

The room was clean and the landscaping around the hotel was beautiful.
The room has no microwave oven. The hotel does not look modern. The swimming pool is small and there is no hot tub.

Proximity to the beach. (Location.)
The plumbing in our room was poor. Toilets had trouble flushing. Water did not drain well in the shower. Bathroom sink faucet did not produce strong water pressure.

This hotel is pretty retro. The staff is very welcoming and very informed about Hawaiian history and customs. Many have worked at the hotel for decades. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is amazing and the price is reasonable.
The lobby area is in need of some updating with better air circulation. I think that the reasonable prices and wonderful staff make up for any deficiencies. They could film an episode of 'Mad Men' in the public areas and not need to change a thing.

This hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere. It looks the same as I remember it from 1975 when I visited the property with my parents for dinner, except back then you could barbecue your own steak at the patio restaurant. Nicely kept, grounds with flowering trees. Right on the best part of Ka'anapali Beach. Walking distance to restaurants and shops.
