The first room had a faulty smoke detector so had to switch rooms. They did not mention that there would be major construction going on at 8am Saturday morning on the lot right next to the hotel so not quite the wake up call you want on your day off. They also did not say that the $50 deposit would have a 10 day hold placed on it which I am still waiting to have put back in my bank account ...

Outdated and run-down looking even though the rooms were supposed to be "newly renovated". Paint and decor is that of late 50's to early 60's style motel with matching outdated furniture, microwave and mini fridge. VERY small bathroom space for two people but, clean enough. There were some "renovations" still ongoing so, there were some noises during the day that affected our sleep(we're night shift workers that sleep during the day. Location was ideal for quick trip to the beach, which was only 20 minute drive and the zoo and the Seaworld close by also. Plenty of mediocre restaurants and junk food places to eat and Starbucks EVERYWHERE near by for all you caffeine addicts. Family and business friendly place but, NOT recommended for any type of "romantic" get away. NOT pet friendly place. Did we mentioned unexpected deposit of $50 required at check in? YES, WE GOT HIT WITH AN UNEXPECTED $50 DEPOSIT ON CHECK IN WHICH WE STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN REFUNDED AFTER 3 BUSINESS DAYS AND CARD SHOWING "PENDING" CHARGE. ...

This hotel was great for the price. The staff were reallh helpful. The hotel in near all main bus routes, close to a supermarket and post office. Breakfast was a choice of a pastry, muffins and cereal. The pool looked dirty but it was just old tiles. He rooms are also being refurbished but this did not disturb our stay. Great hotel for the price.

The room was neat and remodeled with new furniture. However some of the details of the remodeling was not finished. The parking was limited as the hotel is still in the remodeling process and has placed the furniture on parking spaces. The neighborhood is a bit run down and a long ways from any restaurants or cafes.

I have pics of the room condition that I would love to share with Priceline. I have used Priceline many times and this is the only case where I feel duped. I was overcharged for the type of room I got. the condition of the room would probably qualify it for 1 of those rooms that are rented by the hour. I think I will be posting these pics on Yelp and facebook. The curtain were torn. The carpet was filthy. I took a shower and while walking across the carpet for 5 minutes while getting dressed, the bottoms of my feet were completely black. If the housekeeping staff see a black washcloth, that is what it is from. THere was what appeared to be a vomit stain on the carpet by the bed. There were 4" square holes in the wall. The electrical cord for the air conditioner was precariously draped over the vanity light fixture and then plugged in the sinkside outlet that should be used for a hair dryer. The paint was peeling off the door. When I checked in, I asked the man at the front desk for an iron and ironing board. He politely said that he would bring it to the room, which he did in about 10 minutes. I picked up the remote to the tv and hit the power button. It did not come on. I looked behind the dresser and it was unplugged..No problem. Then I tried changing channels and I was getting no response from the tv. The remote was not wirking. When Romy came to the room with the iron and board, I mentioned it to him. He tried it. Again it did not work. He went and got another remote, again it did not work, then he went to get programming codes. he returned and got the right code and made the remote work. He was so diligent in trying to fix the tv and bring us the iron that I did not have the heart to complain about the room. Romy is a diamond in a VERY rough rough. He is overworked and underpaid I am sure. The hotel is a disgrace to the name of Howard Johnson. The place should not be renting rooms until the renovation is complete. ...
