Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hotel Universel Montreal

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Great location, walking distance from Metro, Bio-dome, Botanical gardens and Olympic Stadium, nice rooms, in door pool, free parking and shuttle, friendly and helpful staff, and discounts on meals in restaurant, good price. We stay here frequently.
They have three different levels of room quality which makes it nice for people on a variety of budgets to enjoy the hotel. This time we stayed in the basic level. It was very nice but the beds were exceptionally hard. Otherwise it was nice w/frig too.

Location, considering that the idea was to visit the botanical gardens.
Indifrence on the part of the staff.Incredible noise early morning, afternoon and late at night. ( people talking laudly, children running ang laughing, vaccum clener noise) all outside of the room. One elevator for 10 floors and more than 100 rooms.

The location was great, close to Biodome, Insectarium, Olympic Stadium, Botanical Garden.
Could have been more clean.

The front desk area very clean. You have to ask for renovated rooms which are more expensive. The not renovated rooms are really not renovated at all, gunk in the shower grouts, we paid extra for an upgrade room after seeing this. It looked nice at first, the carpets new and furniture new. The top bed cover had disgusting stains, so did the accent pillows. The main light switch at the entrance had red stains that looked suspicious. The door to the bathroom was also heavily dirty with what seemed to be shampoo or soap. ...read more

Location was in line with area description, parking availability was convenient
Lack of cleanliness, musty odor and dirty carpet in room, misrepresentation about a Wi-Fi availbility. The first room offered smelled completely like mold, the second room was only marginally better, but had to keep A/C cranking to mask mold / musty odor

For the price, it was great. The staff was friendly. Indoor and outdoor pools were good.Parking was free and easy. Small but usable refrigerator. Good shower. Good towels.Good location next to Gardens and Stadiums. Good internet speed.
I checked in twice over 4 days.2nd time, the door latch kept it from closing freely. The sink drain stopper came off.The toilet ran all night due to a faulty plug.I don't see how this is considered a 3.5 star hotel, even if everything worked.
