Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hotel Rex
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.June 11, 2013

We felt like we had stepped back into time. To a place where writers would come. It had great character. It is quirky but we appreciated that aspect. Would have loved to stay a few more days. It's location was great. And the front desk suggested a wonderful restaurant to us and made out reservations for us. The library bar was great also. Along with the complimentary wine and the Friday night jazz. Would definitely think about staying again. ...

I live in the Bay Area and booked this hotel at the last minute to save me a drive home after a late night. The hotel had a perfect location on nob hill, close to union square. Very safe neighborhood with adequate overnight street parking. I arrived late, and had to ring the bell and wait for the desk clerk to let me in and check in. Common areas are quaint and carpet a bit worn. Room itself was delightful, a bit cozy. Beautiful, antique details throughout like door locks and toilet hardware. My room had a window that opened to an air shaft with a lot of white noise from all the air conditioners for the other units. I have never heard of or noticed this hotel, but it is beautiful and would love to return. ...

After extend for two days, first impression of the room cuteness have disappeared and wanted to have more efficient room with outlet on the desk, lamp on the desk, desk not under the large tv screen. For the price we have gotten, this hotel served very well. Walgreen and 7/11 are across the street, Powell street is a half a block. Everything was very near by, yet the rooms not facing to the street were very quiet and guests seem to be older generation, so they were very quiet on my floor on 5th very different from hotels with the same or higher stars that attract younger generation with much noise in the lobby, elevator and hallway late at night. ...

The room was smaller and older but was to be expected since it is an older hotel in downtown San Francisco and not a newer chain hotel. In spite of that, was comfortable, had wireless internet, staff was friendly and helpful, nice TV. Couldn't really ask for more. Was able to walk to nearby restaurants, Starbucks, and transportation like trolley, sight-seeing buses, etc. Only complaint was the high cost for parking but I guess it was to be expected for location. If I wanted to avoid the parking would have probably have had to get a place on the outskirts of SF. ...

Enjoyed my stay. Location was good, staff was nice, hotel gives you a free glass of wine each night in the Library Bar. Hotel interior was in a victorian style, very classic in design. Flatscreen TV was good, internet was good. Would stay there again.
