Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hilton Garden Inn Wilkes Barre

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The bed was comfortable, the hotel is very clean. you could smell the fresh smell of new carpet in the halls.

The area has a lot of Restaurants to choose from, there are a lot of shopping centers in the area.

Convenient location and friendly staff.
The beds are not that great. I really am not a huge fan of the sleep number or whatever these beds were and it ended up feeling like sleeping on a marble slab even when I tried to turn the number to the softer version.

Overall I think this is one of the better hotels in the area. The rooms are clean, the shared areas are cleaner, and the staff is friendly and met my needs. Having said that my biggest complaint is the bed, you get a bed you can change the number on but they ended up not being that comfortable. I know some people like really firm beds and some people like soft beds. The idea behind the number system is great but the execution is not and that detracted from my entire stay. Also, the Starbucks across the street probably makes the best Starbuck drinks I have ever had. I would consider staying in this hotel just to have quick access to the Starbucks. ...read more

The hotel is very clean and convenient for what I need
While waiting in line in the process of checking in, the front desk employee took a phone call and instead of telling them to hold he proceeded to answer their questions while i waited. The correct procedure is ask the phone customer to please hold.

I like this hotel

The public spaces look really nice, the staff was courteous, the location is convenient and perfect
The room was dated (90's), bathroom floor was sticky from cleaner, no hot water, king bed was a non-working sleep number that sagged

The location was very convenient and in a really nice part of town. The common areas were very nicely kept and the staff was courteous. I booked this hotel through Priceline and the rates were really reasonable. Prior to arriving, the hotel charged my credit card for the room at a rate that was was $70 higher than I was quoted and when I checked in they charged $20 for incidentals and another $41.00 that was inexplicable. The staff was courteous, but unhelpful. The room I was given looked dated- but certainly adequate and I thought the expected rate for the stay was reasonable. It looked clean and taken care of- but the bathroom floor was sticky from cleanser. I was very disappointed in the king bed- it was a dated sleep number bed that did not work (there was no power and the air lines were disconnected. The mattress had been flipped so the head was at the bottom of the bed. It was sagging and uncomfortable. There was no hot water in the shower- just warm. When I asked for another room, I was told that the hotel was sold-out and no room change was possible. I made a call to Priceline customer service- and they were extremely helpful. They made sure the room charges were correct and put in a lot of effort to try to get the room switched. I would definitely not stay at this hotel again- the frustration was just way too much. ...read more

They finally fixed the showers. They are now hot instead of luke warm.
The "Hilton Garden Sleep System" is a disaster.

The "Hilton Garden Sleep System" is a disaster. These are beds that are supposed to offer adjustable firmness. However, they are not powered in any way. If you are sleeping and wish to have a firmer mattress, you must get out of bed and in some amount time - who knows - the bed is supposed to get firmer on it's own! This is combined with the fact the beds in three of four rooms in which I stayed were set on "most firm" and lost air in the middle of the night leading to a seriously saggy bed and horrible lost sleep experience. On top of this, apparently, to "avoid clutter" in the room, Hilton Corporate has decided to omit ANY in room instructions on this bed. The adjustment knob is hidden under two layers of sheeting and then in a hidden pouch!! Even the cleaning staff had trouble finding it! If you want a hotel with a good bed, I would suggest avoiding the Hilton Garden Inns. Apparently, they have mandated and installed this poor excuse for a bed in all rooms for all Hilton Garden Inns. ...read more

Luke warm showers in afternoon and evening. This needs to be fixed as it is, for me, a deal breaker.

It was very close to the Interstate, with easy access. There were other conveniences around if you would need them but we didn't.
