Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hilton Garden Inn South Padre Island

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It was clean
Nothing is included in the cost. Only gave a one time 20 percent discount to their coffee shop

If you're a smoker I would suggest a different hotel. Only two smoking locations and you get fined 250 dollars if you even smoke on your balcony. Pool is not byob. You'll have to buy their expensive drinks. Can't even get a free muffin for breakfast. Night staff was extremely rude. If you just want a clean location to sleep and have Beach access it isn't bad. But I'll be staying somewhere else next time ...read more

The staff and housekeeping were wonderful
Our room looked like something you'd find in a Budget Inn or Hotel 6. The furniture was super cheap, and sparsely furnished. The patio looked out to the wall of the hotel. Nothing we expected in a Hilton Garden Inn. We stay at them frequently.

It just wasn't what he had hoped for when we booked our stay at Hilton Garden Inn in Padre Island Texas. Made me think it they paid too much for the lot and had to cut deep into the budget to make up for the difference, so furnishing and luxury took a big hit. The mattress was horrible! We told the staff there was a sink hole on my husbands side of the mattress and he had a horrible backache the entire time we stayed there. The maintenance man helped me rotate the mattress, but it didn't help. We usually have great mattresses at HGI, which was another reason we paid more to stay there. The tub would not hold water. We did ask for a plug, but never got it. There was not safe in the room. We had to ask for one, and they did install one. That didn't make us feel too great to discover they just bolted it in and someone could do the same to take it out/steal it. We were out of water several times. We were told it would be turned on by 1 PM ( if was shut off around 11 AM) and when we returned at 7 PM that evening it still wasn't working. Overall experience was negative. The staff and beach were the only positive things about our stay. ...read more

This hotel was clean and staff friendly.
The furnishings in the room were in need of updating. Lamps looked like they were from a garage sale and the room did not have sufficient lighting.

Great access to the beach. Large pool. We had an ocean view. Awesome fireworks we could see from our balcony .our 2 queen room had, fridge, micro, sleeper sofa and 2 tvs..
Wish you had a wall of privacy so if you sat at bar you weren't on display. Food was good and drinks also.

The rooms are a good size with great amenities. Direct access to the beach, great jacuzzi's and access to the La Quinta pool.
The Bellhops are smelly. Don't leave them in your room, it will stink up your room.

I ate dinner once (reasonable prices - $8 for a meal) - had the General Tso Chicken and it was NOT good. They should take that off the menu or learn how to make it correctly. I'm sure their other food is good as the dining area is usually crowded. The crowd age is usually 40+ although we found some college girls in the jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi was good, too; it's too bad that the jets turn off every 20 minutes, but you can reset them. Staff was great, Room was great since it came with a fridge and microwave. The fridge was not the coldest though and did not have a dial to adjust temperature. Don't leave your bellhop in your room since some are smelly. The location is awesome! The Wave (free bus service) picks you up across the street. The hotel has beach access, has an outdoor shower to rinse off, is adjacent to Clayton's bar and grill, and is definitely driving distance to many places. Also, you can rent bikes for $20/day for bikes that can be rode on the beach (from my research, this was the only hotel that offers this service). We even walked to a couple other bars like Wanna Wanna and another one although we could have definitely taken the Wave. I will be back here! ...read more
