Welcome to the Golden Gate Hotel And Casino
With a heaping helping of turn-of-the-century Las Vegas charm, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino offers a San Francisco vibe just steps from the Fremont Street Experience.
Casino-loving travelers on a budget will eat up this Las Vegas gem, the first in the city to offer the now-famous "Original Shrimp Cocktail" inspired by the iconic Fisherman's Wharf. Several more nods to San Fran are sprinkled throughout the hotel, including Bay City Diner, a casual place to enjoy blue-plate specials. Although the hotel opened in 1906, all 106 rooms have been remodeled to reflect a modern sensibility. Guests can toss the dice or try their hand at video poker in the hotel's casino. Signing up for Club 1906, the hotel's rewards program, will earn guests free stays and meals as well as significant street cred. Speaking of the street, parking at The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is free and significantly easier to navigate than crooked ol' Lombard Street. Additional amenities include a 24-hour front desk and business services.
The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino has a location that can't be beat. It's a short walk to the famous Fremont Street Experience, where you can wade right into a charming four-block spectacle of light and sound. Free shows light up the sky every night and there's endless entertainment around the clock. Public transportation is also very close by. The Strip is just a few miles south.
"Right in the middle of all the fun," say Priceline guests, who praise the "old Vegas ambiance" that defines The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino. "The diner in the hotel is fabulous," they add.

When we checked in they would not accept travelers checks, they insisted on a larger amount than stated online for the hotel tax fees and then said we would be reimbursted for overage after we left. We left a day early, as we were not happy with our stay. We were told where to find a luggage cart when we arrived and when we left by the rude staff.

The waitress took forever to come around when we were playing the slot machines. We waited 40 minutes.

Where do I start? Paying the 100% more of the room rate for resort tax is absurd. All of a sudden this good value is expensive. I paid less resort fees at Bellagio. Booked the reservation online, and when I got there, they made wait 10-15 mins. until they received the booking. This happens no where else. Then all night, construction out the window. All night. I hate this place!

I liked the "old Las Vegas" feel of this hotel. It is nice that it is right on the Fremont Street Experience, but the hotel needs to do something about the noise in the rooms. There is no going to sleep before 3:00 when the music on the street stops. The rooms need to be insulated better and have triple pane windows. You can barely hear the TV over the music from outside.
