It was more than just a "room with a bed". It felt like a resort, which is what we were looking for.
The indoor pool was NOT handicapped accessible; the morning we checked, housekeeping kept knocking at the door 20 minutes before checkout time.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Glen Cove Mansion. Although the room itself was small (I think the cabin we had on our last cruise was larger), the public facilities were nice and using them made up somewhat for that issue. I was appalled that the indoor swimming pool was NOT handicapped accessible! I couldn't even get down to the pool level, even by going outside. Needless to say, neither pool had a handicapped lift to get into the pool. The cost of such a devise relative to the cost of other facilities/amenities at this hotel would make it a drop in the bucket, so to speak, to provide one. Also, it would be nice to have the outdoor pool heated a bit. Without heat, the season for an outdoor pool on Long Island is pretty short! One more suggestion for the rooms - lose the big, bulky, heavy comforter on top of the bed. The first thing guests do is take it off (who knows how long ago it was washed? Ugh!) Replace it with something attractive and LIGHT, so that it's easy to remove! Overall, staff was friendly and helpful, except for when housekeeping began tapping at our door every few minutes starting 20 minutes before checkout time. We really felt rushed to get out of there. Not nice. more

The grounds were beautiful.
The staff is unhelpful and mean.

I arrived at this hotel with 90 minutes to spare before I had to be showered, dressed and at a wedding somewhere else. The first room they gave us was already occupied. When my boyfriend went to complain, they were not surprised or apologetic. They gave us another room which the key would not open. It took them an hour to get us sorted and into a room I could use for showering. They were so rude about it as well. Horrible staff! more

Driving up to the mansion at night is magical.
Distance from large city.

This hotel is great if you are wanting to get away. It has a magical look at night and a sense of being in the country in the day. Very friendly staff. Rooms and hallways have older feel, in need of face lift, but clean. Parking was some distance from entrance, would be scary by yourself at night.

Location to family and function, breakfast buffet and staff.
Couldn't find reservation.

The hotel was very nice, the staff was friendly and responsive, however, I called to confirm reservation and change bed size, was no problem but when the day came to check in, unable to find reservation, gave the confirmation number, still not able to find it. Asked if they had a business center so I could print of the confirmation, miracle, they seem to have found it when I mention I could print out the confirmation other than that everything seem to be fine. more

Beautiful grounds and main building.
Little off shoot rooms were deceiving.
