Hotel Guest Reviews of the English Bay Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Great location.
Dirty and extremely overpriced! An example of taking advantage of the extreme affordability problems in Vancouver. The owners obviously do not care.

The location is great. Walk to the park and water.
The staff were unfriendly. The room was very outdated.

Handy location, close to downtown. Basic hotel, but clean and large rooms, with handy kitchen facilities and wifi. Staff were helpful.

Good location for exploring downtown Vancouver. It is basic, but clean, with large rooms, and wifi. I was pleasantly surprised to find ensuite kitchen facilities. Not a business-standard hotel, but certainly fine for budget/tourism.

It was in the West End and close to everything.
The entrance to the parking garage was very tight.

Overall, a clean big room and quite quiet. Close to everything.

The English Bay hotel was a dive: dirty carpet, 1 of 2 squeaky beds, no air circulation from fan or air conditioner, a 1 light bulb light in the bed/counter area, TV was an antique. Woke up to what I must assume was a helpful stranger asking a drunk barfing in the alley below our window if he needed medical help. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Holiday Inn Downtown or 1 of 2 near the Casino in Richmond and ride the Skytrain where you need to go if you are on a budget. Hotel has no redeeming qualities. The owners must be pocketing quite a bit because the income hasn't been used to make the hotel nice.

The view from our room was spectacular
The toilet would not flush and it was noisy (not the hotels fault)

The room was old but clean - we had a kitchen unit which was great and the view and location were awesome

Great location.
Difficult parking garage.

Great location but the rooms need updating. If you do not care about the attractiveness of a hotel then this would be a great place. Walking distance to great restaurants, Stanley Park and the beach. Parking is only $10 but very difficult to get in and out.

It is in a wonderful location for experiencing the West end neighborhood
The hotel is outdated, dirty and poorly equipped. I find it hard to believe this is 2011 based on it's appearance

An economical choice for budget travellers, may cater to an Asian clientele. Front desk staff helpful, but owner was unwilling to offer any assistance. Parking was scary and the furniture, fixtures and rooms need a major overhaul. I would imagine it will face demolition as the location is far too good to waste on this kind of facility.

Slow WiFi, confusion over reservation, serviceable but unattractive room.

This is a perfectly functional though not particularly nice hotel. The lobby smells like band-aids.
