Hotel Guest Reviews of the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Granite City

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The staff was really kind and accommodating. I got really sick the morning we were meant to leave, and they let us stay 4 hours extra for almost nothing. Definitely the best thing about this hotel.
The free breakfast was terrible (bagels, cereal, and warm milk). All the common areas stink of smoke. We booked 2 rooms; one was decent, but the other smelled terrible and had cockroaches in the bathroom, plus the window wouldn't open so no fresh air.

The power went out. It was out all night and not that the hotel staff wasn't helpful. They had friends in the lobby. They offered no assistance. Priceline charged my card when I booked the reservation and was asked to pay cash upon checkin. PL handled it.

Nothing.
Sounded like a herd of elephants up stairs and noise from bathrooms coming through.

Will not use this hotel again.

I should have known something was up when the front desk had a glass-window seperating them from us.

I should have known something was up when the front desk had a glass-window separating them from us. We were not greeted in a welcoming manner, more like we had interrupted their time. When I handed the Priceline receipt to the owner, his wife made a snide remark and I was told that I "would not get anything extra" that she was very busy, (even though there were only 4 cars in the parking lot). Instead of have a party of 2 we had 4, which I specified prior to arriving. I had to write "4 guests" and sign on a random piece of paper, I was made to sign liability agreements that if my room or car were broken into while staying there that they were not liable. I had to sign out a remote at the front desk to even work our TV. We had a non-smoking room, with a 1-inch gap under the door so we had to barricade the door with a blanket to keep the smoke out (which obviously can only do so much). So we inhaled smoke all night. At about 2:00 in the morning we could hear people overhead moving furniture around. There were no wall sockets next to the beds, the alarm was across the room. The shower experience was interesting...they provided shampoo but no conditioner and when I reached to get my towel off the rack the whole thing feel on the floor. There was no hair dryer like they said. I of course had no idea "getting nothing extra" meet not even getting peaceful stay. The whole night I was literally waiting from someone to break into our room. This hotel is run by people of ethnic decent, which I have no problem with the race, I do however have a problem when I pay good money and get treated badly by the staff. ...read more
