It is much quieter than List Hills but only 20 miles away. We will stop again!

Very disappointing experience. We read the reviews of this motel and thought we were getting a bargain for 2 adjoining rooms in this fairly large motel, but the low rate we paid was more than the place was worth. The rooms were surface-clean, but so poorly maintained that several of the lights over the doors had burned out, one a/c unit was loud and barely acceptable, the bedside lamps were particularly dim, paint was peeling off the baseboards and the "amenities" in the bathrooms looked like mis-matched samples taken from a Dollar Store: dusty and old. We stayed only because we had been on the road for over 10 hours and it was getting late. BTW: The mattresses were not too bad, and we slept soundly. On the plus side, Breakfast in the morning was served early, but sadly consisted of only enough waffle batter for 2 waffles, some sticky looking packaged pastry and packs of oatmeal or cornflakes. There were 3 people in our group and the attendant--who appeared to be the owner/manager did not prepare more batter until we were about ready to leave and more guests arrived. In addition, the waffle iron was set at a low temp and the timer went off before the waffle had fully cooked. Buttonwillow appears to be a town comprised of motels, gas stations and restaurants--most of which are fast food franchises. We had dinner at Denny's, which surprised us by providing better food than we expected and an excellent staff. Note that there are 2 freeway exits from I-5 and take the one farthest south. ...

Each day when I returned to the room there were cockroaches in the bathroom. The plumbing under the sink was corroded and disgusting. The light in the bathroom would come on in the middle of the night and wake me. The carpet was stained with who knows what. It was very cold there and housekeeping would turn off the heat so the room was cold when I returned.
I think you get the idea.

From the very first contact when I called Jodi and asked if early check in was possible she went out of her way to be helpful and friendly. The room was extremely clean and very convenient to what we we doing that weekend. The continental breakfast included Belgian waffles which was a lovely way to start the day. Super easy freeway access. We would definitely stay there again.

They charged and additional $ 6.00 reservation fee and when I complained they would not remove charge. I called my husband and decided to drive home to long beach. I returned my key and they said they would remove the reservation fee but I had already decided to go home. I asked they to credit my credit card for the room but do not know if they did probably not.
