The property is perfectly situated on the "elbow"of the hotel district. Amazing.
Its over 40 years old and the age is showing. Its time for a makeover, so be prepared. AND i can not stress enough, DO NOT PURCHASE ANY PREPAID TRANSPORTATION FROM THE SCAMMERS AT THE AIRPORT. You are warned. We've gotten screwed for the last time.

We've been returning to Dreams for 7 years running, and the service and amenities seems to be lacking during certain seasons. Its unfortunate that the resort has decided to remove and reduce these services, because THAT is what set them apart. When questioned about it they said it was "off season" so they reduce "certain things". We recognized that off season meant that that the vast majority of guests were native Mexicans. This saddened us even further. If a resort would treat their OWN in that manner what does that say about their managerial decisions. The best part for me was the beach. The waters were clean and really calm, you could basically lay out there for hours.
I had a 4am taxi pickup so I woke up around 3:15am to take a quick shower only to find there was no hot water available.

The Dolphin encounter was fabulous as was the couples massage we received at the spa.The grounds were beautiful and most of the staff extremely attentive and very friendy.We stayed in the club tower and the beach there was very nice and secluded.
The food was just mediocre.Also they pushed too hard for us to spend time at a seminar that we had no interest in going to.Something about saving money on future vacations.

My husband and I were stuck in Cancun during hurricane Sandy. Our flight was canceled several times and we were frantically trying to use the phone. I grabbed a calling card as fast as I could and tried to use it from my room. I spent forever back and forth with the front desk and operator trying to unlock the phone. They needed a deposit with my credit card for the room charges. Once that was done, it still wasn't working and neither was the calling card. I got charged $3 for every attempt which added up very quickly, still no help. The staff in front could care less about the situation and made no extra effort to make a stressful situation the slightest bit easier. (It didn't help that I was 7 months pregnant at the time either) I ended up making a collect call in my desperate attempt to get home and got charged $225!! I was near tears the next morning but could only pay so we could leave and catch our flt out of Mexico. Maybe without a situation like Sandy, the hotel is OK. Given the food we had, the grounds, including the pools and swimming area. 2 stars at them most. Overall, way overpriced for the quality of service, food, and grounds. ...read more
