Hotel Guest Reviews of the Courtyard By Marriott Torrance Palos Verde

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Close to restaurants, the bistro had good menus, the room was nice.
The bathroom was not clean enough. Who wants to find hair ?!

The staff was great. We asked for a late check out and was given one without a hassle. We were given a handicap accessible room, but it was okay.
Looking out the sliding glass door, you could see handprints and forehead prints. Hairs in the tub/shower area.

Overall, for a two night business stay, the staff was great, the hotel was quiet and the room was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

The restraunt prepared delicious meals for a reasonable hotel price.
Swimming pool had so much clorine that it burned our skin and bleached our swimwear. The ladder into the pool had a broken rung with sharp pieces protruding. Glass??? on the bottom of the pool

Hotel room was a disappointment for the price. The room was small. Bathroom linens were stiff and rough - too much bleach. Patio door opened to a balcony that had no furniture. The swimming pool was a disappointment - the chlorine was so strong that it actually burned our skin and eyes and severely bleached our swimwear. Overall, I'm glad we only booked for one night, and I don't think we will be staying at this hotel again. Too many great hotels in the area to spend our money here. ...read more

extrememly friendly staff. Great price and excellent value for that price.

The room quality for the price was outstanding. The room was comfortable and the sofa and sliding door access outside created a feeling of a larger room and allowed for nice fresh air circulation. Having a refrigerator in the room was a plus. The lobby and common areas where updated, comfortable and efficient. It was also very quiet. I will definitely stay here again when I travel to the area in the future. ...read more

The staff were, on a personal level, quite friendly and were trying to be helpful.
One of the days, we returned in the early evening to find the room had not been cleaned nor the beds made. The "computer system" apparently told different people different things about whether or not we got the free breakfast. Some key troubles.

For the sake of the many nice staff there (and even the apparently very new manager), I wish I could give this hotel a more positive review. Unfortunately, I have to say the stay was not worth the price. First, there's an odd smell in the halls (though the room smelled OK), and a notice that the building has chemicals that California has determined cause cancer and birth defects! To be fair, though, California has probably determined that almost *everything* causes cancer and birth defects, so we weren't too worried about that one - that's probably a common notice on many buildings. As for the room, the beds were fine, but the bathroom door was mounted in such a way that it wouldn't stay open without propping. Also, the ventilation fan wouldn't come on, so it got very steamy in there when the shower was in use. A request to fix this led to nothing. The fitness center machines were good, but the sanitary wipes were nothing more than Kleenex tissues (they said they would fix that once we pointed it out - maybe they did after we left?). A card-activated lock on the way to that was fickle. I tried it a dozen times to no avail, went to get help, tried it one more time in front of the staff, and of course then it worked! A really annoying problem involved our free breakfast deal (one of the reasons we booked the room!). I called to ask what time it was served, and was told we breakfast wasn't included. I went and showed them the paperwork, and then they said we did. We ate (a very good) breakfast for two days, and on the last day were told we don't get free breakfast! The manager quickly remedied this, and explained that there are two computer systems, one saying we get free breakfast and the other saying we don't. Great, it's all the computers' fault! OK, positives: location OK. Very nice staff, trying hard to be helpful (against all odds). Nice, new manager - truly cares, but doesn't have it all together yet. I think they will make it better. ...read more
