Hotel Guest Reviews of the Cavalier Inn At The University Of Virginia

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location. Once you are in the room, it was just fine. Has both fridge and microwave.
Outside access only to the rooms. That is really the only feature that shows the age of the hotel.

Great location. Nice lobby. Rooms are fine in that beds are comfortable, A/C worked well, it was clean. Bathroom is a little dated but they have done what they can to update and I can appreciate that appearance should be secondary to function in cases like this. Bathroom functioned well and was clean - nice water pressure in shower, etc. Decorations reflect the history of UVA and Charlottesville. People at front desk were friendly and helpful. ...read more

The proximity to the University of Virginia.
There was one particular front desk staff member who was extremely rude to everyone she interacted with. She ignored guests and had a loud personal phone conversation while at the desk. She was very patronizing and disrespectful to several hotel guests.

The location was the biggest selling point plus the rate for the room was reasonable when compared to other hotels in this area at the same rating. The staff was also very friendly and the room was very comfortable.
No complaints.

The breakfast was an added amenity with just enough of a variety for everyone.

The staff was SO accommodating. They helped us around campus, helped us get a cab, and were so polite checking us in/out and everything in between.

It was very clean, and its location was perfect for exploring UVA nearby on foot (the reason for our visit). Continental breakfast was excellent, plus internet was free.
We struggled to get someone to turn the climate control from heating to air conditioning.

This hotel was previously a motel that was covered with glass walls to close off the upper floors' hallways. Our room was on the east side of the building, and the sun heated it up for much of the day. Blackout curtains prevented the sun from waking us up too early. We had a little difficulty getting maintenance to turn on the a/c, but that was the only negative experience.
