Hotel Guest Reviews of the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location, they hold my bags until check-in; they hold them after check-out too. Did I mention location?
The shower area is too small. Two complete bathrooms in one room. They should remodel the bathrooms into one single one and make the shower bigger.

The charm, character & history of the building was so amazing. The location is perfect, near parks, shopping, great restaurants and felt very safe.
The rooms were very small. Very small outdated bathroom but had a vintage charm to it.

Such a lovely historical building.

The location is the single positive feature of this hotel.
900 room college frat party dump. That is my summary of this awful pit of a hotel. Filthy, small & unmodernised rooms. Clientele mainly drunken college kids. Outdated slum, which is 2 star at BEST.

I have never written an online review for ANYTHING... but this hotel truly deserves my most scathing review. The first problem with this hotel is that it poorly manages expectations by selling itself as a grand, Boston landmark. You arrive and soon realise this place is far past its prime. The clientele are mainly drunken college kids and the hotel staff are poorly trained with bad english. I noticed there was security in place to manage the drunken college kids, and the elevators reaked of vomit. My room was tiny and dirty: there were fresh stains on the blinds that also smelled of vomit. The bathroom was c. 1960s with absolutely zero water pressure (genuinely... it was a drizzle). Finally, I was awoken at 4am by what can only be described as a full-out brawl between drunken kids in the hallway (screaming, fighting, door banging etc). It took THREE calls to reception before anything was done and this incident carried on for at least 40 mins. Despite my repeated complaints & calls there was no apology from the front desk or attempt to compensate me for the awful nights sleep eg, complimentary wifi. Breakfast was expensive ($33 buffet) and tasteless.. and the waiting staff were inattentive and unfriendly. I would have pushed harder to get a refund had I not been in such a mad rush to leave this godforsaken place. No doubt this was once a dazzling Boston hotel that drew famous visitors... but it either needs a huge investment to restore it to it's former glory or a massive bulldozer to put it out of its misery. For now, I would advise you to avoid the Boston Park Plaza at all costs. ...read more

The location is perfect for anyone visiting Boston, especially if you plan on utilizing the train system in the city, which I recommend both as a native Bostonian and as someone who was returning to my hometown with friends who visited for the 1st time.
Its old , so don't expect things like a small refrigerator or larger bathroom. If you didn't know that you may have been disappointed. I was only a bit let down that WiFi wasn't included in the room. Its a beautiful historic hotel none the less.

I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants excellent customer service, appreciates the rich history of the city and of this hotel. It is a landmark to all Bostonians and is a gorgeous example of where the newest luxury hotels gather inspiration from. If location is important, you can't do much better. Its pretty much right across from the Boston Common, Public Gardens , close to the stare house and Beacon Hill / Fanueil Hall area and right across from the Arlington train stop on the T. Even with the Government Center stop being under construction for 2 years, EVERTHING is extremely easy to get to from here and you get to stay in a wonderful hotel with a rich history in one if the most beautiful parts of Boston . The staff is excellent and eager to help and courteous and I would stay here again in a heartbeat without reservation. It was hard to leave. ...read more

The location.
Yes, the registration staff seemed young and inexperienced, and the room they put me in was not great. I stayed at the Park Plaza last year, and although it is and older hotel it was all fine. This year I was put in a dumpy, teeny tiny room.

The location and price are great, as I've experienced in the past. Knowing that they have nicer rooms, the room I had this time seemed like some sort of punishment for traveling solo. I probably should have asked for another, but after a long day of travel was just too exhausted. It was teeny tiny and dingy looking, the carpet looked old and gross and the walls were a little scuffed up, one of the lamps didn't work. The bathroom was the worst. They are really old fashioned, which is fine, but the shower was obviously built when people were much smaller than they are today. I don't mind a small-ish shower, as I've stayed at the Club Quarters - Boston and was quite comfortable. This was obscene though, I'm 5'1" and rather small myself, but couldn't shower without my body touching the shower wall or the shower curtain (yuck). Ladies, forget about shaving anything in that shower, it's almost impossible. Teeniest shower I've ever seen. ...read more

Location
The room was small and awkward. I asked for a cot several times and even though the desk said they would bring one up immediately, it never come. It was not until the third time that I called that I was informed the room was "too small" for the cot.
