  1. What is priceline.com?

Priceline.com is an entirely new way to buy things. What makes priceline unique is that you name the price and we find the seller! Our first service enables you to name your own price for leisure airline tickets. You can now name your own price for new cars and trucks. Future services include naming your price for home mortgages, credit cards and much, much more.

To name your own price for airline tickets, just tell us the dates you want to travel and the price you want to pay for each ticket. Priceline chooses regularly scheduled flights on major airlines where the airlines have unsold seats. For domestic travel, all flights depart between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. and arrive the same day on the days you want to travel. International flights may depart any time of day. All flights may include up to one stop or connection, though we may ask if you are willing to make two stops on certain international routes.

  2. How do I use priceline.com to get airline tickets at my price?

It's easy. Since you're already at our Web site, select Name Your Price for a Leisure Airline Ticket. It only takes a few minutes to fill out a Priceline Ticket Request. Your request will tell us where you want to go, the dates you want to travel and the price you want to pay for each ticket. You'll need to have a major credit card ready. Once you submit your request, we'll try to find tickets at your price on the dates you want to travel. For domestic travel, you'll get your answer in just one hour. For international travel, you agree to give us up to 24 hours to find your tickets.

Keep in mind that once you submit your ticket request, it cannot be cancelled. All tickets issued by priceline.com are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Currently, tickets can be purchased for round-trip travel only. Please read the priceline rules before you submit your ticket request.

  3. How do I contact Customer Service?

Priceline Customer Service is available via e-mail at our web site. Many of your questions can be answered in our Information Center. If you have submitted a request and want to check on the status, please call the toll-free number listed on your ticket request confirmation page.

For your convenience, the status of your request is available 24 hours a day via our automated response system. We will also send a response to your request via e-mail.

If you are holding tickets, you can either send us e-mail from our web site or call us directly using the number listed on your electronic/paper ticket materials.

  4. Which airlines might I get a ticket on?

For domestic travel, you agree to be ticketed on any of the major, full-service U.S. airlines and their affiliates. The Department of Transportation (DOT) defines major airlines as those airlines that sell over $1 billion of tickets each year. Full service airlines are those that offer travelers a broad array of services, such as meal service, seat assignments, etc.

Any of the major full-service airlines or their affiliates may or may not be participating in priceline at any given time. If your priceline ticket request is accepted, you will be issued a ticket on one of the major full-service airlines or their affiliates.

Major full-service U.S. airlines serving smaller regional markets frequently schedule travelers on affiliate airlines that have convenient connections to and from these markets. Priceline customers agree to fly on any of the major U.S. airlines and their affiliates.

For international travel, you agree to be ticketed on any of the major full-service U.S. and International airlines and their affiliates. International airlines include the following list of airlines, which vary by destination city. To be included on this list, an airline must be the largest airline to a country from the U.S. or carry over one million passengers per year. The following listed International airlines are those which agree to fly, although any specific airline may not be participating in priceline at any given time.

  5. How do I know what price to request?

Priceline works to try to get you advance purchase or economy fares when you can't get them yourself.

With priceline, you can name any price you want. However, to maximize your chances of getting a seat at your price, we strongly recommend that you do not request ticket prices below the airlines' lowest advance purchase fares. To increase your chances of getting tickets at your price, priceline uses its proprietary databases and also searches millions of constantly changing published fares.

Here are the 4 easy steps we recommend to name your own price:

    1. Shop around for the lowest available advance purchase fares for your trip on a major airline (even check their web site when flying at the last minute).
    2. If the lowest fare you find fits your budget and seats are available, we recommend that you buy those tickets, since fares and availability change constantly.
    3. If not, let priceline try to find empty seats for you, at the price you want to pay.
    4. Remember, the more reasonable your price, the better your chance of getting tickets.

  6. Am I committed to buy a priceline ticket if you get me the price that I requested?

Yes. If we are successful and get you the tickets you want at the price you requested, tickets are issued immediately to lock-in fully confirmed seats and your credit card is charged the total amount of your request (plus any applicable taxes or airport facility charges). Since all priceline tickets are non-refundable, non-changeable and non-endorsable, please be sure that you are ready to buy your tickets before you submit your request.

  7. Can I resubmit my request?

To be fair to everyone, priceline ticket requests are limited to one request per trip (for up to 8 people traveling together). A trip is defined as travel between the same airports on the same dates of travel. There is no cost to submit a request for a trip using different airports or to the same destination airports on different dates.

  8. How do I check the status of my request?

For domestic travel, once you submit your request, it takes an hour for us to find out whether a major airline is willing to release seats at your price for the cities and dates you want. For your convenience, the status of your request is available 24 hours a day via our automated response system. The toll-free phone number to check your status is provided to you after you submit your ticket request. We will also send a response to your request via e-mail.

For international travel, once you submit your request, it takes 24 hours for us to find out whether a major airline is willing to release seats at your price for the cities and dates you want. For your convenience, the status of your request is available 24 hours a day via our automated response system. The toll-free phone number to check your status is provided to you after you submit your ticket request. We will also send a response to your request via e-mail.

Note: Before priceline can begin to process your request, it must be guaranteed with a major credit card. If you choose to call us with your credit card number, you have 24 hours to do so before your request is deleted from our system.

  9. Is it safe to give my credit card number over the Internet to priceline.com?

Priceline has created a secure environment for credit card transactions. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt all personal information including your name, address, and credit card number to prevent it from being read during transmission over the Internet.

If you prefer not to send your credit card number over the Internet, you may call our automated credit card entry system toll-free after you submit your request. We want you to feel confident that your personal information is secure. Your trust and respect is our highest priority.

  10. Are there ways other than the Internet that I can use to place a ticket request?

Yes. If you prefer to speak with an operator who can enter your request on our Web site for you over the phone, you may call our Operator Service at 1-800-PRICELINE, Monday - Friday, 9 am - 9 pm (EST), Saturday & Sunday, 12 noon - 6 pm (EST). Have your credit card number ready when you call.

To enter a ticket request 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, visit us on-line. If you do not have an Internet connection at home or work, there are many ways to get access. For example, you can use the computers at your local library or ask a friend or family member with Internet access to post your ticket request for you. Entering your request on-line is fast, safe and efficient, and you can do it whenever it is most convenient for you.

  11. What rules do I agree to when I request a ticket from priceline?

You agree to fly on any one of the major, full-service airlines and their affiliates. Airlines listed may or may not be participating in priceline at any given time.

For domestic travel, you agree to depart on any flight leaving between 6am and 10pm on the dates you want to travel, arriving the same day. You also agree to make up to one stop or connection (which adds no more than 3 hours to your travel time). For international travel, flights may depart at any time on your dates of travel (midnight to midnight), though they will rarely depart after 11pm. You also agree to make up to one stop or connection each way. Stops and connection times vary by region.

To get the price you want, all tickets issued through priceline.com are non-refundable, non-changeable and non-endorsable. Tickets are for round-trip travel only and must originate in the 50 U.S. States and Puerto Rico. Destinations include virtually anywhere in the world. Tickets issued through priceline.com are not eligible for Frequent Flyer miles, or upgrades. When you submit a ticket request, it must be guaranteed with a valid major credit card with sufficient credit available to pay for your tickets. Unlike regular tickets, priceline tickets require no Saturday night stay or advance purchase requirements. Though seats may not be available on a specific date, there are no blackout periods when tickets cannot be requested.

  12. Will priceline ever put me on a "red-eye" flight for domestic travel?

Priceline will search for flights departing between 6am and 10pm arriving the same day. However, if you are flexible, you can allow us to also expand our search to include "red-eye" flights. These are flights that depart late in the day and typically arrive the next morning. You will have the option to allow us to expand our search when you place your ticket request.

By allowing us to expand our search to these late night flights (while continuing to look at all flights between 6am to 10pm), you increase your chance of getting the tickets you want at your price.
